Anybody running this setup with a stock LP?

My truck is an 06 with the stock LP with edge juice/att , any chance low fuel pressure due to the extra filtering?.

any feedback and input is allways appreciated!

I have the GDP on my 06 and it works very well, my post fuel pressure readings are 1-1. 5 lower than they were before installing the GDP 2MK filter.

I have Edge Juice WAM and the lowest fuel pressure I have seen is 5 lbs on a wot run, I never run above level 3 though.

Timely thread. I asked my service manager today if installing a 2 micron filter would cause a problem and he said not to do it. He said DC has been trying without success to get better than 7 micron filtration. He thinks it'll starve the CP3. So I'm curious too how many people are running with this filter and how it's performing.

I've been running a 2 micron secondary fuel filter for 20,000 km now with no negative issues. My service manager encouraged the install.

If the sender for the fuel pressure gauge is on the CP-3 inlet and reads 20 with the GDP kit installed (392 fuel pump and 2 micron kit) instead of 6 stock... . how can it be starving the CP-3? It ain't.

I'm not running the 392 pump. I want to run the MK-2 with my stock pump. That's the configuration I want to make sure doesn't starve the CP-3.

I think they're talking about installing the GDP filter kit without the Walbro pump.

I'm running a Caterpillar "High Efficiency", 2 micron fuel filter on my auxillary fuel tank, ONLY.

The set-up I have does not drain the aux. tank into the main tank. It has a 6-way valve that allows the fuel pump to, either, pull from the aux. tank or the main tank. There is a rocker switch on the dash that controls which tank you pull from. Also, controls the fuel level guage to read whichever tank you are pulling from.

I've had this set-up on for a couple of years, now & I have not noticed any difference in the way the engine runs whether it's pulling through the stock, 10 micron (now 7 mic. ) filtration, or the 2 micron filtration. The aux. tank filters through both the 2 mic. & the 7 mic. filters.

My point is that the pressure # at the CP-3 inlet is the same with or without the 2 micron filter installed, which in my case is 20 psi. Sorry I did'nt make that clear. ;)

I have had mine on since Dec. I have not seen the FP fall below 5 PSI. My tap is in the line between the MK2 filter and the CP3. I have the stock pump only. If I had any mods at all I would do a pump first. Either a GDP or a FASS. If you like the FASS the best you can just get their whole set up. I think it comes with a 3 micron filter. There is a lot to read about what the micron rating and the rated efficiency means. Pick what you like best. With the box I would want a bigger pump. Just me, and nothing to base it on.

I installed the 2 micron filter and used the big hose kit supplied and then added the fuel pressure gauge and tapped the line between the filter and the Injector pump. So far have not had any problems other than the the shop getting the filters mixed up when changing the oil and filters.

I mostly lurk and learn as this is my first diesel vehicle. You guys are a wealth of knowledge. Thanx! I just did a shade-tree fuel filter upgrade and thought I'd submit it.

I read this thread with interest because after 28,000 miles on my 05 the sump of my fuel filter canister was clean. Then came ULSD. After 10,000 more miles on a 10 micron filter I switched to a 7 micron filter and found a tan residue in the bottom of the filter cup. Power seemed the same but my mileage was down, and I thought the injection sounded like it was firing harder. I figured you can't have fuel too clean so looked at the Glacier Diesel add-on 2 micron filter kit. Looks like a nice quality kit with those sweep ells. Talked with a neighbor about what I wanted to do and to my delight he dug out a used filter base complete with an old fleetguard filter. Its bracket almost matched the holes in the Cummins intake manifold. Only one manifold hole had threads so I had to drill the other a few thousandths bigger and tapped it for 10mm to match the threads on the other hole. Found a fleet supplier and bought a Fleetguard FF 5320, 2 micron filter to make sure it fit the filter base. I then toted the filter base down to a hose shop and purchased several 3/8 NPT brass tees and two 5/16 barbed hose fittings. The extra ports on the tees were reduced to ¼ NPT for fuel pressure sending devices, which I placed on the output side. Geno's was back ordered on my choice in fuel pressure gauge so to get the installation operational I opted to put in a simple oil pressure sending unit (for an idiot light) from an old VW bug. It comes on at 2-3 psi. I don't have any performance boxes (perhaps some day) so opted to stay with the existing fuel line size to keep the installation simple, figuring I could upgrade later if necessary. I didn't mess with the banjo fittings, instead removed the pinch clamps on the rubber hose connecting line from the bottom of the stock fuel filter canister to the Bosch high pressure pump. The rubber hose then came off easily. I routed new hose from the stock filter canister banjo line to the intake fitting on the new filter base, and lightly clamped in place with worm drive clamps. Did the same from the output side of the filter base to the line to the Bosch high pressure pump. When I filled the FF 5320 with fuel I deliberately filled it from the input holes and was surprised how fast the 2 micron element flowed fuel to the center. There seemed to be very little restriction. I haven't pulled our 10,000 pound trailer yet, and probably won't til I get the gauge installed, but so far everything seems to be working fine using only the stock fuel pump in the tank. If I can find a suitable place to mount the idiot light I plan to leave it in addition to the gauge. I tried to keep everything very clean when I put it together. If you see anything I did that may cause a problem please let me know.
