Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
Wife and I had to make a fuel stop yesterday before leaving town. We were in her 1/2 Dodge quad cab. Pulled up to the pump and a couple of pumps over set a new 3rd gen 2X4 Cummins powered '04 quad cab with the driver under the hood.
Stuck the fuel nozzle in the wife's truck and off to see the new toy. My first opportunity to see a 3rd gen engine, you know!
Wife was thinking 
Turns out he was fueling and adjusting his EZ box. It was set on max and he was moving it down one to see if he could increase his mileage a little. Asked if he minded a nosey neighbor and he said no. I said I was running a EZ on my 2nd gen and he said that he really liked it on his. I asked if he had gauges and he said that he had them ordered. He said his mileage was running about 11 mpg loaded with the 10K toy hauler. Said that he didn't drive it enough without it to know what his empty mileage was.
I made a couple of observations.
1) Exhaust mainfold bolts discolored.
2) Turbo discolored just in front of the exhaust housing.
3) No paint left on turbo exhaust housing, but no discoloration.
These told me that he was not lying when he said that it would run 80, he drove 80. Made me nervous too. He was pulling a 16' to 20' toy hauler loaded.
I made mention of these new ones running pretty warm and he said his temperature gauge did not show it.
The truck was '04 quad cab 6 speed 2X4 Dually. Very nice ride. Did not think about mentioning TDR until my wife and I were back on the road. Sorry guys.
