I've begun the install of my new fiberglass fenders from glassworks unlimited http://glassworksunlimited.com/gu18.shtml and I feel a little bit amateur to get stuck on such a minor install, but I admit as much mechanical work on vehicles I've done, I have little to no body work experience. I hope my question isn't out of place on the 911 forum, but my truck is in the driveway with the original fenders hanging half way off of the truck, so some quick help would be greatly appreciated. Upon searching this website, and the internet I can't find the trick to separating the inner fender from the outer fender. I've removed all of the bolts and fasteners, but the two pieces are welded, or pressed together every 12 inches or so (pop your hood and you can notice this along the top of the fender if you're not familiar with this). This inner and outer fender combination is also attached the same way to the wheel well, which I hope to keep attached (not the plastic tub, that is long gone). Is there a better way to separate these spot welds, or whatever they are, other than to drill them out? Or am I taking the completely wrong approach to doing what I'm trying to do? Thanks in advance if anyone can help, and if it matters it is a 2002, 2500 4X4.

I am not familiar with what you are doing to your truck but generally you have to drill out the spot welds. I have even seen a special bit made just for that purpose though I can't think of the catalogue that sells it right now.

Thank you guys for your replies, that is what I suspected I had to do, but it's hard to start making Swiss cheese out of my truck if I'm not sure that's the way it is to be done. Now I can drill away with a little confidence.
