Fiat Allis 65B motor grader??

Does anyone have any experience with this grader or the earlier model Allis Chalmers M65 graders? The 65B has a Fiat/Iveco engine, are they any good? I am looking for a small grader that I can haul, they are around 13K. Allis Chalmers started building this small grader in the 40's and are still being built today as Noram 65E, so they must be an okay machine.

I remember one valuable lesson regarding graders in general...



Make sure that the drive chains in the rear wheel drive boxes are not broken. My father rebuilt a basket case CAT12 grader, got it all together and painted. Pronounced it ready for duty.

Hauled it up to the job, dropped the moldboard to start grading and it just sat there spinning one tire on each side.



The internal drive chains were broken on both sides. Also found the bearings at the box to grader frame pivot were shot as well once we got to poking around in there.



Put a load on it while trying it out... ... ..... Maybe the newer stuff is gear driven but still thought you should be made aware.

Thanks Mike, I will keep an eye on those. I guess not too many are familiar with this little guy. The one I am dealing on is 1500 miles away so I won't get to work it, but the dealer and salesman appear to be on the ball. It's a '96 model with 1321 hours on it so it should be a good machine.
