1990 Wilderness Yukon Question

whats up cummins people?. got a question for you, i have a reese hitch

fifth wheel 16k kwik slide and i want to adjust the height of the hitch but

i am not sure what the clearance should be between the fifth wheel and

the bed of the truck, right now i have 7" inches of clearance and i want to

lower it 1 1/2" more ,

am i going to be ok or what do you think?.

i want to lower the hitch because my fifth wheel does not sit

even when i am pulling. is low in the back and high in the front about 2 inches.

this hitch pivots side to side and front to back, also height adjustable.

Depending on where you wind up going, rough terrain, driveways, etc. . 4" is the absolute minimum clearence you should run.

I have about 4" of clearance. I get buy okay with it but I have to be careful to avoid contact. The worst clearance problem is when the front end of the truck drops into a depression. If you drop an inch or so you should be okay. Try it and if you do not like the way it works it is easy to go back.

Since you have a hitch that can tip side to side, I probably wouldn't drop it more than an inch. It will allow more movement to the side in rough terrain or campgrounds with steep inclines getting in of the road.
