Yellowstone Nat'l Park RV'ing in the winter?

in reality how much of the pin weight is applied to the front axle? can't be much, huh ?

do any of you know a good estimated weight for the 5er hitch assembly in the bed?

I've got a fairly light 5th wheel - 7265 pounds total and of that 1015 pounds is pin weight. My front axle is only 40 pounds heavier when hitched. The rear axle increases 975 pounds. My hitch is directly over the axle.

'nother question

how does estimated weights compare to actual weights of your 5er's?

by the estimates for our new 5er the combined rig looks within spec's but I have this doubt about reality vs. "guestimate".

To be safe, I'd assume that the 5ver's GVWR was its actual weight and that 20% of that weight is on the pin.

Our fifth wheel actually takes 120# off the front end.

In our case, this is good as it lessens the front tires scraping the fenders :--) .

Most manufacturers recommend that the centerline of the 5th wheel hitch be 2"-4" ahead of the rear axle centerline. Obviously, this isn't the case with your hitch mounting.
