Figure this one out???

I have a shutter at idle speed in first gear but only when turning the steering wheel. This is an auto trans47re. It does this mostly when cold but will do it warmed up sometimes. It will also do this in reverse sometimes.

At first I thought it was the limited slip rear end. I changed the rear end lube to Amsoil 2000 but the problem still persists.

I am thinking that it is the trans. I just can't figure why it only happens when the steering is turned a little. Am I causing enough resistance maybe.

I also had the trans serviced and the bands adjusted to no avail.

I do not feel anything in the steering wheel and therfore have ruled out the power steering.

Maybe I'll remove the serpintine belt and try it that way.

Your PS pump is run off of the cam gearing BTW. So removing the belt won't do much unless you think it might be your water pump lol ;). Even though you added the amsoil I would not rule out the limited slip. Does it act different on dry pavement or dirt?? Good luck

Clark: Thanks for the heads up on the power steering pump. I assumed it ran off the belt.

I have added one bottle of mopar friction additive and will do some figure eights tomorrow. Amsoil says I don't need it with there 2000 series. I don't want to much but have to try something.
