Filler neck check ball. What's it for?

It's there to keep the fuel from running out on the ground in the event the truck rolls over. Why would you want to remove it... you can "overfuel" the truck at the big rig pumps at a flow rate high enough to damage the fuel tank sending unit with it in place.

Thanks Rusty,

That's what I was looking for. I had the filler neck off putting on a connection for my auxilary fuel tank and was just wondering. I am not going to remove it.

Another thing is, it pretty well prevents fuel theft by siphoning... ;) :D

Sort of a bummer when ya need a gallon or so fer yer own Kabota diesel tractor tho'...

Sheesh

Like you need to 'over-fuel at the big rig pumps' to damage the fuel sender!

The fuel gauge sending unit is self damaging.

If your auxiliary tank is in the bed and you leave the valve open, you need the check ball to keep fuel from running out the filler neck. There are openings in the neck between the top flapper and the lower ball seal.
