I know I've read about it before, but I can't find how to do it. I don't know how to get the shift tower apart and I don't want to just start pulling. The fluid is draining now, I was hoping to find a quick answer...

Under the drink holders there are rubber matt's. Under those there will be bolts that hold the console down those need to be removed.

Remove console, remove shifter with an adjustable. You will be able to see the shift tower there should be more bolts... . really pretty straight forward just take your time and dont drop any bolts into the transmission. You might need a little atv sealant when re-installing the tower.

Yeah, I was thinkin' it was easier than filling thru the top of the fastcooler. I might give it a try anyway. I hate trying to contort myself enough just to fill the trans.

I like the thought of removing the lever to drill a couple holes to run the wires for my exh. brake through.

I'll give it a whirl and let you know how it goes.

Thanks Jdub

I used to fill mine using one of those cheapo hand pumps. It did not work really well. It would leak more out the back than it would pump in... well not really but you get the idea. It "worked" until I sent it flying across the driveway one night. Since then I use a squeeze bottle with a short hose. Better, but still a pain.

I do overfill a little, but not much. Maybe 1/2qt or so.

I gave up on trying to remove the shift lever/tower. I have air hoses running thru the console and that's just one more thing I didn't feel like screwing with.

Got er filled up with approx 5 qts. Used a mix of old leftover Mopar fluid and Amsoil MTF... about 50/50. We'll see how that goes.

Dipstick was black, but the oil looked good. Had some metal sticking to the magnet on it, but not bad. More than I remember seeing last time, but nothing like the rear diff usually has hanging on it. This was just a little on the Mag magnet about the size of the little magnet itself.

Changed the front diff tonight as well. Throw in the T-case change a couple weeks ago and I should be all set thru summer.

Why are you trying to "OVERFILL" it?

Yeah, I was thinkin' it was easier than filling thru the top of the fastcooler. I might give it a try anyway. I hate trying to contort myself enough just to fill the trans.

I never asked, "what's the best way to overfill my trans"? All I was looking for was an easier way to fill it.

EDIT: 5qts doesn't get me too much overfilled with the fastcoolers.

I re-used a gear oil bottle that has a tapered tip and put about 4" long peice of fuel hose on it. I pour the oil in the bottle, then I can put the hose in the fill hole and squeeze. Sort of slow, but cheap. (hey, that describes ME pretty well  )
