I noticed on my new HO '03 that the filter minder is a little different from my SO '03. The new minder looks similar except that it is not graduated with numbers showing % used. It just has the window with "green for good" or "red for dirty".

Also, unlike my old truck the yellow disc has not moved yet so I'm wondering if they have been revised.

Funny, mine has the percentage graduations and like most people here one good stomp on the go pedal will move that disc down to 35% or more, even when brand new!!

They just revised the software in your filter minder so that the reading fall within customer expectations. :D :D

MMeier, My first '03 was built in August of '02 and had the minder like your truck. My new '03 was built in February of '03 and has this new style. I have stomped this truck and it has not budged.

Casey, your probably right:) .

So do you think there is less restriction in the new trucks filter?

I don't have a Filter minder on mine just a great big round washable filter mounted in a BD Xintake. :D

I am sure the air filter is just as restrictive as before but they may have recalibrated the minder to read properly under those restrictive conditions.

 Mine has been on 35% since I drove it off the lot. Haven't change the filter yet. It only has 7000 miles on it. AFE in the near future though.

The AFE will take care of your restriction problems and make a noticeable differance in throttle response. You won't be dissapointed!

I simply cut a 4 inch hole in the bottom of the filter box, and my minder don't hardly drop at all. Throttle response is also better, and I can now hear the turbo spool up nicely!

The AFE is only a replacement filter, no housing/box included.

Obviously I got robbed at BD, I won't forget this when it comes time for a fueling box.
