I may have missed it , but what are you filtering , eng. oil , waste vegi oil ? And are you filtering any thing els out besides particals & water ? What about gliserin? I've been looking into this for a while and am going to try to make a system that will take up as little of the bed as possible for fulltime RVing.

dse fuel

sorry about that i am filtering waste veg oil then mixing kero, reg un gas. power service, dse addtive using a 66% mix veg /33% #2 going to 75/25 in the next tank

What about glycerin?

thats need to be taken out if you dont want to burn it you cant filter that out then your making biofuel if you take it out uning methonal and lye

i have read that glycerin is to veg oil as parafin is to diesel fuel.

OK, CJ... .

What is the blue tower for? and why so many valves? for just mixing or bypassing?

I see that after the mixing you pump into the white box for pumping into the truck and it has a meter on it?

filter and mixing

Blue tower is the 5 micron filter (after using the bag's up will be switching to 1 micron bags)the valves are for filtering and bypassing , can pump from the red tank ( heated tank) into the black tank or thru the filter into the black tank

then from the black tank bypass it all (mixing) or thur the filter back to the black tank,or thru the water block filter then back or then water block or filter to the end of all the valves to the transfer tank (white tank) with more filters and then too the truck with a meter so i can keep track of how much veg oil I pump in for mixing with #2 . Tryed using house filters and two pumps but forcing oil thur a filter is hard (over 90 psi at times)this way is a little better only one pump takes more time at (15 psi to 30 psi)

but it's cleaner and I don't have problems with collapsed filters

it looks harder to use than it is can mix a load of fuel in about 15 min if need be , like filtering for at least 1 hr the oil is very clear and will mixed when it's done

hope this helps you

Back again , it didn't seem clear to to me , that glyserin part , I seen were somebody is using a filter that reacts with the glyserin to take out , and from a lot of other stuff that I've read the glyserin is not a good for the long turm do to gumming and coking , if you know differant I'll like to no more , and I know from exprence that parafin is not something I want in my crankcase so I'm suspect to let it in my fuel system , I like to know how things work so I can anserw my ? myself.

glyserin problem ????

you have paraffin in your fuel you can't run #2 without it it just there

glycerin problem? only way to find out is long term testing,(with out the oil companys involed) just what I have tryed it has not made any difference to my 04 dodge

just filled a 04. 5 with a 600 up with all veg oil (dse mix )and its going back to denver to night he is pulling a trailer with a car on it 500 mile trip. put 30 gallons in the tank it holds 34gal short box truck (that about 95% veg oil )

started it up ran the engine started to smell the veg oil burring then it started smoking this motor has a few mods on it edge box he will call me tonight when he gets home

think I found out why it smokes his truck and my o4 the differance is the cat some thing is comming off my 05 for a test

if thats the problem not sure what to do

veg oil runs cleaner than #2 no nox and way less other stuff i don't need a cat but the law says i do.

off to mix some more fuel (more testing)

I hope that you do not take offence but it seems that the public is left to there own to find these alternatives so I look at this as a info sharing ,I did not catch your DSE earlyer , from what I've read the dse is an alternative to transesterfacation [ the methonal & lie ] prossess , the dse chemicly modifies the gliserin for burnning , so you are prossessing the gliserin. I also read that the molicues of veg. oil are larger than diesel so differant injectors should help to make this fuel more eifficent whitch might help with the smoke , also the is still nox but a lot less . heres a couple sites , UNH Biodiesel Group one uses cummins for a lot of testing. Hello

Info sharing is ok with me thats how a got this far

Talked to my friend this am, his 04. 5 dodge pick up 1 mpg towing the trailer and car he runs down the road at 80 mph (no the best for mpg) he filled up in douglas wy and went on to denver with norm diesel he lost 2 mpg at 80 mph as long as he keeps the heat up on the cat no smoke no heat big time smoke with dse style fuel.

looked up glycerin on google and looked at the msds sheets it seems to be that glycerin has a flash point of 199c or 390 f should burn at the combustion but not right away only alter the heat is up must me soaking the cat at first then burning when the cat gets hot

if one was to start up and drive for a few miles then shut down yes you could coke the injectors and damage the engine ,but running getting the engine heat up should take care of this also running injector cleaner should help

this is what i think, not sure if it right, but willing to try .

CJ,whats the verdict so far? I ordered the DSE but haven't put together a mixing station yet. What's your source for oil? I've checked 2 "mom/pop" type greasyspools here in the Portland OR area with no luck. Thanks for the info, Tom.

nevermind, found CJ's other post
