Finally... A Check Engine Light!!

Well after an injection and lift pump, I am hoping the miss at idle has finally set a code. I've got the shop manual with codes, but how do I get them. I thought I could cycle the key or something.

Anyone know?

For the 98. 5 you will need a OBD scanner of sorts. The key cycling thing doesn't do anything. Beleive me, I've tried everything.
