After reading posts about all of the fuel systems (FASS,Air Dog,RASP,pusher) you all have tried and reported on I finally modified my fuel module!!
I beleive GKinney and Tractorface as well as others have done this mod to
their fuel module. There are great posts on how to do this if you do a search
on fuel modules.
I know it sounds like a lot of work as well as time to do this mod but I feel it
is time well spent.
In my case I have a FASS that was noisey from the git go and got louder as
the tank emptied. On my 2001. 5 the fuel return line comes in next to the
feed line to our pumps. The return line in the module has about a 4"extension into the tank below the top of the module. So as my tank emptied
this extension returned the fuel right above the fuel pickup it acted just like
squirting a hose into a bucket! Plenty of air for the fuel pick up to grab.
I beleive GKinney said it best the stock fuel modules are junk, boys and girls
he's right. I do not know if all of your modules are the same as mine was,
maybe not but IMHO this is a big flaw in design. I re-routed my return line
away from the fuel pickup increased the pickup I. D. to 1/2"( stock is 1/4") all the way to my FASS, the results I am very happy with.
The FASS is so quiet you have to put your hand on it to see if it running
and my truck is much quieter, making me beleive that the less air the FASS
has to remove the better it works.
I would like to thank all of the people on this site for their input, it helps alot
without it I would be at the mercy of dealers and repair shops.
I know I do a better job than they would, but without this information available to me I wouldn't be able to do much of anything!!!!
Thanks again Chuck E.
