Where did you pick it up at? I just bought one this year myself. A 1998 28' Layton. I looked around forever, saw some good ones until I looked real close. Check around the toilet floor really well, and also under the kitchen table benches for bad floors. It seems the ones I looked at thats where the problems were. If all the vaporbarrior stuff underneath hasn't been cut open, you should be in real good shape.

Looks nice

Good luck and enjoy. Make time to use it. Thats the problem I have:D

In 1995 I bought the identical trailer as this. I think I paid $3500 from a private party. It had several problems, and I spent a couple of years finding and fixing most of them; I remember a new hot water heater and a leaking roof and lots of fresh water leaks from poor winterizing. all of which we fixed. It had a little hail damage, too. Anyway, about 1998 I traded it in on a new mid-sized fifth wheel. The dealer sold the Wildnerness off his lot for $5500 before he could make my new fifth wheel ready for pick up! I talked with the new Wildnerness owner, and he was happy as could be. If you are right about the condition of your trailer, you got a nice deal indeed.

This last October, right before BD Dyno Days, I found a 1994 28' Savanna (Fleetwood) on the Internet. I was in Post Falls, Idaho and the Savanna was in Puyallup, WA. (Seattle). I called them on a Monday and asked them to hold it so I could look at it on Friday on my to BOMBvoy up to BD with the NW Bombers. I looked at it on Friday and bought it for $5,700. 00. This was a steal! It was a little dirty from storage and needed a few minor things attended to, but was in excellent condition, and fully equipped, including the Reese hitch, and an screened area that attached to the awning. We picked it up on Sunday coming back from BD Dyno Days. Towed it home (350 miles) with no problem at all.

In fact, I just got home on July 14th from a 3700 mile vacation to the Black Hills and Jackson Hole. No problems at all. What a Steal!:D Oo. Oo. Oo.

sounds like i did good. i'm very happy with it. just figured i would ask everybody because this is my first time investing in a trailer.

i did just purchase a spare tire and rim thought that would be a smart thing to do. is there any other smart suggestions that anybody could help me on before i hit the road this weekend.

i'm also glad to hear that some of the other guys have found good deals on trailers also.

Grease your bearings and do a brake inspection. Nothing like checking it yourself for peace of mind. No telling when they were last looked at. Your might also contact the manufacturer and ask for an owners manual if you dont have one... . It will give you all kinds of helpfull hints . I sent Skyline an email when I bought my Aljo TT second hand and they sent me a big envelope full of info. Good luck with the home away from home. And remember... . NO tailgating... ;)
