I've mentioned here before, that I was pretty disappointed in the mileage my truck was getting, as I was comparing it to my P-stroke. Finally after 17000 miles and an EZ and K&N I'm averaging just a bit over 20 when empty. This is great IMHO. I do drive pretty easy and when on the freeway, cruise at about 65 all the time, push 70 once in a great while. I'm sure the combo of break in and EZ is what did it.

More on your truck.

What year is your truck?

What engine/trany?

What rear end?

What was your MPG that you were getting before your mods?

TIA

Bob

Cry me a river! I get 15. 5 MPG with EZ and K&N. I just put in DDIIs so when I get out in the big road I'll see how much they helped.

If I saw 20 mpg, I'd streak May Madness!!! I'd be happy with that out of a 7000# truck.

I had to get over 25K on mine before I saw some decent mileage. And I really didn't see it until after I towed something heavy (about 7000 pounds of timber). I only towed it for about 100 miles, but at every intersection I punched it and did everything I could to work the engine. the day after I noticed about 2~3 mpg increase..... other than that I run empty just back and forth to work. I think that alot of hte guys that complain about bad mileage probably never really worked the engine. I tried beating it empty but it's not the same, you don't really work the engine and heat it up unless you get some weight behind it.

My $. 02.....

Just returned from 3100 mile vacation trip to Arkansas pulling 26 foot Sportman fiver, estimated weight between 9000 and 1000 lbs. Milage to Ar. was 14. 0 per gal, returning to Az. it was 13. 5 gal. Normal for town is approx 18 to 18, highway is 21 to sometime 23, depending on speed. Vehicle is 99 3500 auto with 16,000 miles. Am and have been very happy to fuel milage.

:D

14mpg towing a 10k 5th wheel? How slow do you drive? I'm getting ~10mpg towing my 36ft 5th wheel at 65mph. Slowing down IS NOT an option on I-5... ...

Brian

I just towed from Reno to Bishop with my 10,000 lb 5th wheel. The passes go up to 8000 ft. I got 13 going down and 11. 5 coming back for an average of 12. 25. Considering the hills I went over. Several 6% grades, I am happy. I get between 20 and 21 solo over the last 5000 miles the mileage has been steadily improving (I also add a DTT TC, VB and Smart controller). I am at 30,000 and I think I'm still going trhough break in.

AZ,

Your not supposed to drive over 85 miles an hour when going for milage. :p ;) :D

I avagre about 16-18, but I have not had a tank that I didn't hit 80-85mph. I think if I avargage 20+ on the trip to Munice it'll be, "LOOK AT 'EM RUN BOYS!!!Oo. "

Andrew

I got 19. 2 mpg on my first tank. This included towing a Mustang on a trailer for 50 miles. This was by hand calculation, will keep checking. Have a 2002 standard cab SLT, HO, 6 speed, tow and camper packages. :D

Avg MPG 2002 4x4 Ext cab 5-SP

Have a new 2002 5-SP 4x4 3. 54 gears

I averaged 1st tank 18. 6 City/Hwy driving. Since then low was 17. 7 and the high was still 18. 6. Can't keep my foot out of it when on the Hwy the EZ Box makes me smile to much.

NVR FNSH = I don't drive too slow at all. Normally run 65 to 72 on Interstate, which most of this trip was on. However, I do watch the EGTs, make every effort not to "lug" the engine down with low RPMs and I don't do any hot roding. Didn't mention it is the first tread but the auto is 3. 54. I've read a lot of treads about poor milage and maybe I'm lucky, but milage has been great on this truck every since I had it.

EZ Box

Edge EZ box enhances your the fueling so that you get more HP and Torque. One of the easiest upgrades you can do to your truck and not have to modify your stock transmission.

21 MPG

What was your average speed? Sounds like you kept it under 65 all Hwy I assume. 5-SP, 6-SP, or Auto? Sounds like you have 3. 54 rear-end.

I have a Club Cab auto 4x with the 3. 54 that weighs 7100lbs loaded with fuel and me. That was with the cruise set at 72 mph which puts the rpms at ~2100. I was nothing but:D as I had never gotten more than 18. 4 running around town.

I get 16-17 around town and right about 20 on the freeway... I can only wish I could get what my dad gets with his '90 2wd 5 speed!! ... ... avg. 25 MPG hiway and 18 or so pulling most whatever he wants.

Jim

ok my . 02 ... ... ... highway 19-20. towing my 5ver, gross about 23,000 give or take... around 10 mpg. just around town about 17-18. all in all i think this is not too bad on a stock truck.

I get 17-18 with a mix of freeway/city driving. On my last trip to Tahoe I averaged 12 for the round trip driving 60/65 most of the time but pushing it on the grades. I've now got about 13000 on it so I'm looking forward to seeing if it moved up a notch with my next trip to Bishop. :D
