Finished putting in my gauges last night. I see my fuel pressure isn't great but not too bad, it is less than ten all the time but doesn't go below four unless it has just been started for the day. I am seeing around 38 psi of boost max. running empty, this is with a TST Power Max 2, and around 1300 degrees exhaust temp. Hard to keep track with the roads we have around here, have to watch the road and slow down for corners all the time. I used Isspro EV guages and a dual pillar mount and am happy with everything. Gauges are very fast responding and smooth. Should of done this about a year ago. Thanks for all the advice about gauges and installation tips,

It seems to me that your pressure should be a little higher than 10 at cruising speeds and especially at idle. 4psi at wot is ok, I only have 8. As long as it's not 0 I think it's fine. Watch you're gauge, if it's bouncing up and down (like 4+ psi difference) under constant throttle your pump is going out. I had 5 at WOT, 10-11 at cruising and 11-12 at idle before the new pump. Now I have 14-15 at idle, 13-14 at cruising and 8 WOT. I gained full 3 psi throught the range with the new pump and now I have a spare. Just a heads up so you can detect a bad pump before it fails totally.

P. s. I also have aeroquip lines and fittings. They gained me a strong 2 psi when I put them on, that was on the old pump. The drilled banjo bolt idea is a good thing to do and a lot cheaper than aeroquip lines.
 
Corey is your fp gauge electrical or mechanical,just curious as I have the aeroquip fittings with the sending unit extention hose screwed directly into the fitiing. Am having a hell of a time getting a fuel gauge to work& was wandering if the fittings have anything to do with it as far as flowing into that sharp 90 deg to the sending unit. Ian

I have a mechanical gauge. I didn't want to have the sending unit problems and wasn't afraid of an in cab fuel leak. So far it works great, I'd reccomend it over the electric gauge in a second. The only problem is if you use a 2 pump system, my gauge only goes up to 15psi and I don't think they make a 20psi mechanical. Anyways to answer your question, I dunno. On my truck I have the test ports on the top of my fuel filter and I ran my gauge off on the post filter plug. The line from my filter to gauge is also braided/aeroquip. I dunno why you'd have any trouble though... Is the fitting as big as the hose? I don't think that flow would have to do with it... it doesn't really flow, it just pressurizes. What doesn't work on the gauge? Is it erratic or doesn't it work at all?

Corey,thanks for the reply,in answer to your question,the gauge is being erratic,I changed my lift pump yesterday & it read 13 after messing around with the ground & didnt drop below 10 whilst driving ,then later after starting the truck up again it wouldnt move off 0 ,so i,m not sure if I have a bad connection or am having a ground or a pressure issue. Your right about the fuel not flowing ,nowhere for it to flow ,hits the sending unit & stays there,I guess I could get a mechanical gauge & screw that onto the end of the extension hose to see what my idle pressures are & go from there. Would the pressure drop simply by revving the engine or does it have to be under a load for it to drop. Thanks Ian
