Been wanting this for a loooooooong time. When we pull the 5ver the rear tires at 80 psi and the air bags at 40. When we get to our destination we look like a couple of jumping beans riding around because I did not want the hassle of trying to find a place that had more than a 35 psi compressor. Last time I tried this I gave more air than I received.

So I finally pulled the trigger and bought a Viair 10007 constant duty compressor with a 2. 5 gallon tank that is now installed on the pass. side frame under the rear seat and front of the bed with the remote on/off switch and pressure gauge under the dash. While testing yesterday it will take the stock tire from 60psi to 80 in about 1 min. 20 seconds. The biggest hassle after all the engineering of where to put this set up on a short bed was where to put the switch and gauge in the cab as there is essentially no place under the dash after putting a brake controller under there. It wound up just slightly in front of the OBD connector so I can still plug the laptop in when I need to.

OBA is a great asset, and I have had it on all my rigs for over 10 years.

The 10007 kit uses the same pump that I have hard mounted in my tool box, the 450C. It's a good size for these trucks, it's relatively quick, easy to wire (doesn't draw too much) and continuous duty at or below 100 psi.

My first OBA setup, back in 1999, had a pair of 2. 5 gallon tanks. I have since ditched the tanks as I find it increases the total air-up time. The first tire goes quicker, but the 2-4 (or more) goes slower as your filling the tanks/tire as well. I modifed my system in 2005 to have the tanks on a "T" with a valve, so I used the tanks and when their pressure dropped to the tire pressure I shut them off, and re-filled as I was driving. I found that to be a PITA, and just went without tanks when I got out of my wheeling Toyota's and into my Dodge in 2007.

I highly recommend one of these kits now that you have OBA, it has saved me and several of my friends when camping. Safety Seal - Tire Repair
