I finally pulled the trigger on a BD exhaust brake and their Torqloc box . Basically the same as PacBrake. Anything to make the job easier besides beer?

When you connect the leads to the ECM remove the plug from the ECM and push the connectors into the correct port... make sure you've pulled the rubber plug first... listen and feel for the click that holds the wire in place... as a former PacBrake Distributor, our biggest problem with self installed units were from these 2 wires not snapping into place and later the brake no longer functions... once the brake is installed... go back in 100 miles or so and tighten the clamps that hold the brake to the turbo and the exhaust pipe to the brake.. both these connections will loosen after a few heat/cool cycles.. you'll only need to do this once...

Remember that there are several software upgrades for an exhaust brake... as an example.. you have the brake on and pull up to a stop light... and 10 seconds at a full stop and the brake shuts off... or stays on... both issues might be correct based on your software...

In some cases the temperature that the brake comes on, during a cold start, to help heat the engine faster... different on many installations...

Turn the brake on and use it every day... learn to touch the throttle if you don't what the brake to come on.. with practice you'll learn when you want it on and when you don't want to use it... Be very careful on ice... releasing the throttle and the brake snapping on can be an issue....

I'm sure there is more... My PXRB easily holds my 15K 5er down 6% grades and functioned will down the Teton Pass (8% for 8 miles) I'm sure you'll be as happy....

Both guys above have offered the best advice. The inner fender well is easy to remove. Having the wheel removed and the fender well....You're there! They're is an exhaust pipe support that bolts to the transmission to engine through bolts.

That was ONE of the best mods I did to my '07, 5.9 besides the free spin hubs. In 2008, my wife, myself and out two grown daughters traveled to Yellowstone towing about 8,000 pound Travel Trailer. Coming home on I-80 WEST from the Donner Summit all the way down to Sacramento, I NEVER touched the service brake. 6th and 5th gear with the PRXB Pac brake did the whole job of keeping us at a safe downhill speed.

Jelag need your help installing BD brake and torqloc. It says to pull the apps cover 04.5 and pull the plug thinking I'm supposed to hook to this but the pic shows the 60pin plug calling it the apps plug and taping into pin 14. So Why Did they want me to unplug the 6 pin apps plug? Thanks

Well got it all installed . A few hiccups but works great can't wait to get it hooked up to the fiver and do some downhillin'.

Now you hve to watch that you don't use it TOO MUCH!!! What I am saying because I experienced it myself with the Pacbrake was that I would leave it on too long and slowed TOO MUCH!! I then had to use throttle (FUEL!) to get a little speed up to the stop. You will LOVE it!
