Got the transmission flutter figured out today. After cleaning the TPS connector (Man am I glad i didn't buy the $409. 00 TPS the dealer was pushing), I saw no change. Hartley's Dodge in Newport, Maine performed reflash # 180299 (per the Cummins shop request)and it cured the lockup problem. Whats even better, on a 99 with 67k they WARRANTEED IT!!!
I wasn't too impressed with this dealership when I bought my 02 there and decided not to buy my 99 from them. However, their service department is top notch and will see my future business even though its a 30 minute drive away (versus 2 for the local jokers).
Finally, what I found interesting was the tech's claim that on several occasions he has cured this problem by driving the truck with the alternator fuse pulled. I noticed the recall adressed the alternator, and can only assume the fault was caused by RF interferance. Anybody had this problem?
