I did my first oil change since installing the Finger Touch Engine Oil Drain Valve from Geno's Garage and not one single drop of oil on my shop floor to clean up. The little lever takes considerable effort to open which is good and was one of my concerns. I had to wear a glove because the pan is so hot from driving in the 100 degree plus heat. It was easy to use, the oil drained rapidly, and then close it back off. I had the filter changed and new oil dumped back in in record time. I even had the old oil poured up in our used oil recovery tank, lubed the 2 grease zerks, and the engine running quicker than usual. Just one trip under the truck since I grease the zerks while the oil is draining.

Sure wish someone would pull the Geno Plug after it has drained all it can to see just how much oil and junk is left in the pan! I want one, but will not sacrifice a total drain for convenience. PLEASE!

The drain plug will leave a little oil in the pan. I got around that by drilling a couple crossholes into the I. D. of the plug at the base of the thread. I also filed some flats where I drilled the holes but I don't think that was necessary because it appears that there is a recess in the pan fitting at that point. By the way, the pan fitting also has holes at the base of it's thread so all the oil will drain out of the pan when the plug is removed. I tested my fix by adding a little oil to the EMPTY pan after I installed my drain plug. Sure enough, I got out as much (or very nearly so) out as I put in. It does take a while to drain completely.

Tom,

I was concerned about that too. I have a mark on the dip stick where the oil level is when I change the oil(I dump in 3 gallons instead of messing with the quart containers so it is overfilled by a quart) It came to the same spot on the dip stick. If any oil is reatined, it is very little. The next time I drain, I am going to remove the valve and see what comes out after all the oil has drained. I don't expect much.

Would be so hard to remove the finger touch plug after the majority of the oil has drained to to get that last little bit? I'm thinking it will be worth it just to prevent the deluge of oil coming out around the stock drain plug.

I just ordered mine today and am looking forward to making the oil changes a little easier to do. It sounds like the amount left in the pan will be insignificant.

I had been thinking about ordering one and after this last oil change I went ahead and did it. I must get a little overzealous when tightening my drain plug...

I have used this same type of drain valve on my Porsche 911 race car the last 8 years. It works well just have to get around to ordering for the truck. There is just so many other things I want first>
