Need help finding a turquoise, 2500 CTD for the wife.

After 14 years of volunteer fire service I have been voted by the body to be the assistant chief of our department . I am looking forward to my new duties there and am anxious to take the step up, we run with 30 members and are fairly busy with auto extrication and structure fires, we also get our share of wild land fires but that is not my experties so I kinda let a few others lead on those, I truly enjoy the adrenelin rush that is always present on a good one and I always enjoy the comarodery that the members give out .

I feel good and just wanted to share with my TDR buddies  take care... ..... Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Congrats on the advancement. Hope you're up to the headaches!! I've been a volunteer just 14 years and Captain for the last 8 in our little burg. We are situated in between one large town and the freeway, so we get lots of MVA's from yahoos who don't have a clue where they are and are going way to fast. As a fellow firefighter, I'm sure you can appreciate it when I say I wish we had a few more structure fires our way! Nothing like running in with the attack line and knocking the red stuff down!!

My hope is to make the same step you made is a couple of years. Let me know if its worth it or not.

Jen

Congratulations. Promotions are great, its like getting a new job. In my industry, there really is no promotions, nothing to look forward too.

Congratulations.

Good deal on the promotion! I one day hope to aspire to the level of officer (I am a grunt now). I think the shock would kill my department, so I will stay where I am at for now.

Congrats Kevin. I'll be coming through Shoshoni next month heading up elk hunting. I'll try to look you up when I stop for my obligatory malt at Yellowstone Drug.

congrats...

Congratulations... ...

Ther only problem is that you have to stay outside of the fire to manage us inside ;)

Good luck with your promotion. Coming from one small town with 30 members to another.

Asst. Chief

Congratulations. I'm in a small rural dept. in the foothills of the Blueridge Mtns. of NC, have been for 15 yrs. I was just elected asst. chief about a year and a half ago. It's a big responsibility, but I know you will do well. Good Luck

Greg. :)

thanks to all of you for the backing, we had another structure fire the other day, it was a trailer house and all of you know it only takes 7 minutes till its distroyed, well we saved it to about 3 grand damage and all belongings are fine, I wanted on the inside bad but had to stay out and play IC as I was the only officer on scene, it was pretty cool though as all went well, we did have to do forcable entry as no one was home, I had the door open just before the search team was ready , they did the search and found no occupants this is when I was relieved a bit, about then the county chief showed up and we had it all out by then :) he said we did a good save and the home owner was proud of us too. I love it when a plan comes thru.

I have been in this department for 2 years and spent the last 8 months as captain, I took the training from once a month to 4 times a month and all the members now see that are extra training was worth it .

My goal is to pull someone from a live fire and bring them back, did this on a dog but not a human yet so I still have work to do but I welcome it with open arms ... ..... Kevin

Right On!!!!. Now as the first Order of business, you must repower all apparatus to Cummins Power. I've been a volunteer for over 13 years and It is still a very gratifying form of Public service. The only problem for me is that all the young buck firefighter prescan the call on the medic channel and are at the station before the "official" tone out comes. So we have big fights before the units roll. Put the wet stuff on the red stuff. Matt

Hey Ranger Dick. .

We've had that problem, so we've gone to a rotational system with the apparatus. With being a volunteer organization, you also have to put together Plan B, but it seems to work well. We still have trouble with FFr's living on the outskirts of the district, being left behind after everything has rolled.
