just got my gasket & fire rings from haisley, just wondering why some of the material between the bores is missing? would'nt this let compression bleed by the next cylinder ?

thanks, scot

They cut the fire ring out of the stock headgasket. The Ring that you got form haisley replaces it. ORings compress into the stock firering on the head gasket, Haisleys firerings do not.

Any chance you can get a few pics of that setup? havent seen one yet. Thanks.

Ok cool. So the idea there is to have grooves that line up in the head and block, lay in the gasket and rings and drop in the head and clamp it all down?

Scot, If it looks the same as the one in the link Zstroken posted, that missing material is how it comes from Cummins. My . 010 12 valve HG looks exactly the same.

Some people argue about cutting it in the head only, cutting it in the block only, and cutting them in both. I have them cut in my 24V in the head only. The arguement about cutting them in both is if the head happens to shift there is a chance it will roll the ring. We would like to think that the head and block won't move that much, but some of these guys are running 3 digit boost numbers.
