Yesterday I turned on the ignition which resulted in a puff of smoke from under the hood. I lifted the hood and SURPRISE, there was a small fire burning on the driver's side of the engine block underneath the fuel filter canister. After investigating the situation, I discovered a burnt wire. I suspect that this wire is from the fuel heater. My assumption is that after so many fuel filter changes, the fuel spillage onto these wires has eventually eaten through the insulation and when I turned the ignition on, the "hot" wire started the fire. Does this sound right? I'd like to hear some opinions on this. Thanks for any input.
