Anyone go to the Dover race??

Trains anyone?

Just thought I'd rant about the current wildfire situation in my lovely state of Colorado. Been out fighting fires with my father in southern colorado for the last two days. In the county I live in we're fighting one fire thats approximately 3,000 acres and another really large one that will probably be over 20,000 acres. All I can say is we definitely need some rain out here because its going to be a really long summer if we don't get any.

Keep it up.

Just keep on putting em out Joe. I was up on my land last week putting the pump in the well and building a wellhouse. There was a fire on the Crazy Frenchman and Bon Carbo. Makes you nervous as hell. Had one little bit of rain and a whole mess of lightning, not good. Supposed to rain Tuesday. Say your prayers...

I was talking to my dad and he said the San Juan mountains were dryer than he has ever seen them, nearly 30 years there. They are patrolling with slurry bombers to knock the fires out as soon as they start. Seems to me that we are going to pay for all of our misguided interference with nature, stopping the fires up to this point has just accumulated 50 years of trash on the forest floors. When it does burn it is going to be destroyed:( Too bad, but it is inevitable IMO.

In Arizona, we are in the middle of the worst drought on record. We're talking Biblical proportitions. I don't remember any rain this year:eek:

Lance,

I just got back today to get some rest, fought fire through last night and I'm going to try and get some rest now. The biggest fire is currently in the Hill Ranch in the Tercio and Lorencito area. Its moving north, northeast and is threatening the Natural Gas fields and may even threaten the Santa Fe Trail ranches and Trinidad lake estates. The other fire is on the northeast side of Fisher's peak (Crazy French Ranch) and is also very erratic. The bad thing is that we're fighting these fires without any air support, almost all volunteers, and a lot of the terrain is too rugged to get in on foot or with vehicles. Another thing is the wind is has been terrible which doesn't help any either. Hopefully we'll get some air support in today and some rain. If we don't there is going to be a lot of people losing their homes.

I suppose some of you might have seen the fires in Berkley Twp, and Bayville NJ that's on CNN, the weather channel, etc.

I can see the smoke from where I'm sitting in front of my computer. :(

Funny thing is it just rained like a SOB, Friday night.
