just ordered a set of airbags. wow there not cheap. i got the 2299 kit and 2219 compressor kit. i do not think i need a tank, i tow a trailer everyday that has a tank in it. the 2219 has dual guages and the hd compressor.

where have you guys installed the compressor, under the truck , in the truck, under the hood?

how the about the wiring and hoses. do you have to drill many holes. that's so fun drilling holes in a $41,000 dollar truck. makes my hands sweat.

they seem like the right way to go, i hope i am happy. thanks for any help, kurt

Kurt,

I installed a set of Air Lift 5000s with the on board compressor and dual gauges which is about the same as the Firestone Ride Rites that you bought.

The air bags are an easy no drill install. I installed the air compressor under the cab under the rear seat on the driver side since there isn't an easy place to install it on the frame rail.

I routed the air lines and wiring to the outside of the cab through the hood release cable grommet in the firewall. I only had to drill two small holes for mounting the compressor which I sealed. Also had to drill two small holes in the knee bolster to mount the controls and gauges on the dash.

I have just returned from a 4,000 mile trip and no problems.

If you have any questions, send me a PM.

Bill

I had the Firestones on my last truck and never had any problems with them. These things are tough. We use them on vibration tables in environmental chambers where I work. Some of them have been vibrating for the better part of 20 years and we've never had a failure. They're actually a smaller version of the ones your using.

I mounted the same compressor in front of the battery on the left fender well. Over the weekend I installed Kilby's On-board air set up. It is sweet.
