It too bad Garmin wants 149. 00 to update the maps!!! They have you over a barrel, it not like you can just buy a new GPS with lifetime maps!!! Wait... ..... you can... . I bought a Rand McNally RV7710 (with lifetime maps) to use on long trips and use the onboard for time when I don't want to drag it out.

When I ordered my map update from navteq (Garmin), the radio software update was included with the map DVD. It even included instructions on which update to do first. Ken Irwin

Does the Garmin update include a uconnect update as well? My Iphone 4s does not work with my 2011 Garmin / Chrysler unit and the word I got from Chrysler in a very round about way was "not supported" to bad so sad.

Looking for the radio firmware updates. The dealer would only update the radio to 23. 04. 41, and the latest firmware is a 50. xx. xx. I also know that you have to go through a middle update step to get to the latest revision. Yes, the maps from www.navteq.com are $149, and if they have an update, it's for the Garmin system, not the radio firmware.

Try searching for my gig radio solutions. That's where I found my initial software updates but when I ordered the map update from navteq, which you do my VIN number, it did come with the radio software update on a separate cd in the map update DVD case from Harmon Kordon.

Try www.supercell.org in the lounge forum, it is a sticky thread at the top. There is also a Chrysler website for the my gig radio updates, www.chrysler.com/en/owners/quality/rer. I have used the mofv.com website before, but it seems to be gone as referenced on the supercell forum post. Make sure you read the last post on the supercell forum page as it references the 50. xx software update. Ken Irwin

Supercell.org is a weather site. Sure that's the one?

Strange place to find the correct information, but that is where it's at. I guess I'm going to burn a couple of discs, and before doing the downloads, contact Navteq to verify which firmware level will work with their map downloads.

I don't have the exact paper copy with me, but it's important that the radio remains powered during its download of data from the DVD and it's subsequent installation process of the software. I learned that the VIN is not loaded if the ignition switch is in the ACC position. This caused my radio to say that the radio and my update disc were not compatible. It took me a while to figure out why this happened, but the ECM is not activated fully in the ACC position, so for my case, the VIN was not actually loaded into the radio, hence my "not compatible" message due to the VIN on the disc not matching. My radio showed the VIN to be blank on my radio information screen. Turned the key to on, allowed the radio to boot up then the DVD uploaded fine. It prompts you to insert the map update after the radio reboots the final time and the screen will show the that you are at the xx. xxx software revision.

I updated the GPS in my 09 once, never again. The added info wasn't worth the price.

The routing available in smart phones is much easier to use anyway. :)

OK, did the updates yesterday, first try was from discs burned from my Windows 8 computer - radio did nothing. Second try was from discs burned from my Windows 7 computer and they worked. I did the upgrade in steps, first to the 33. firmware, then to the 50. firmware. Wish there was a software upgrade that would let the I-Pod shuffle songs on these radios.

What are the added benefits of the updated radio software? Is it really worth the effort and hassle to do? Obviously a map update would be nice, but I am curious what improvements are noted with the new radio software? And then of course should I do it?

NAVTEQ is out of stock on new maps until sometime in May, my guess is switching from 2014 maps to 2015 maps, guess I'm going 3 years before a new map download into the truck.

I have an update DVD from FCA for my 730 sitting unused. The label says the update provides Iphone 4 compatibility - since neither my wife nor I use an Apple phone, I don't need it. I don't know why they wouldn't provide something similar for the 430.
