Hello,
I recently purchased my first 6.7 Dodge 2500 tradesman. What a great truck so far!!!! showing a lot of power, and incredible fuel mileage so far!!!

2 questions, I was hoping someone could answer.

does anyone know what this knob is on the dash? is it something factory, or did the original owner add something just below the tach, close to the left side of the steering wheel. black know, with no markings on it, turns clockwise, and has 4 different positions. Is this some aftermarket thing the original owner added?

2nd, the truck came with 2 electronic keys. 1 looked old, and was used. the other looked really new. the old key does NOT have remote start. the new key does have remote start, but when I tried it, it did not work. there are no lights, etc on the dash. after using the new key for about 15 hours, it quit working (would not unlock doors, etc). changed the battery, still does not work. when I pulled the mechanical key out, i noticed it was not cut (still just a blank). do you think someone replaced this but never programmed it to the truck? if yes, how did it work the door locks the first few times?

thanks,
Jim

Welcome to the group Jim. That knob is clearly aftermarket "something" but I am not sure what. As for the Key, are neither one cut? Seems strange to have two different keys, but I'm sure someone with the similar truck will chime in. To help in that effort, add some more details about your truck, Year, trans, etc.. RAM changed alot of things over the years.

Again welcome, there are alot of helpful folks on here,..

Knob probably was for a tuner with multiple levels.

Fob sounds like a new aftermarket unit, and it just failed or the internal contacts got messed up.

Is the knob continuous or step operation. If continuous it is probably a dimmer for aftermarket gauges. If step it is probably a CSP5 Efi-live tune selector.
