September 19, 1928

The first airplane flight using a diesel engine was made. The engine, manufactured by the Packard Motor Car Co. , was used in a Stinson Detroiter Airplane. It was an air-cooled, 9-cylinder, 225 horse-power radial engine and weighed 510 pounds.
