73 Cummins - Car hauler

Isuzu NPR Diesel

Hey all, new guy here. Currently deployed in Bahrain but I get home and separate this December and am thinking of building a Fummins f250/350 4x4 with my Grandfather and little brother just for the memories and to catch back up while I go to college and get adjusted. I will have a budget of 10k to start with, Including purchase of truck and engine, and ideally I would like to come in under 15k. The only towing I pan on doing is a 7k lb 28ft camper and a 22 foot boat that comes in around 5,000 with fuel. I Know about the Ford cummins mounts, Are they as bad as I've read? I have seen more good then bad but still something I would like to clarify. Sliding the crossmember back doesn't seem hard, But is it worth it modifying it for an nv4500 or the zf5? Intercooler mounting?

Thanks,
tyler

You should go find a super duty as they have better springs and have more room etc , it would also be better to find one that has a mnual transmission if thats what you want

How much HP do you want? The earlier 89-91 non intercooler are easier because of the short Furd nose but there are only 160 HP. Of course they can be BOMBED. Best to buy a complete Dodge as you get ALL the little parts you will need. 96-98 with a stick are 215 HP and are still a mechanical engine. Check out one of the Furd repower sites for detailed swap info. David
