Just bought my first diesel

New Covert...

Oo. Got my new 2004. 5 2500 just before the 4th of July. Tows my 7,000 lb travel trailer ten times better than my tired old Chevy did. Can't wait to head to Yellowstone at the end of the month.

:)

Got my 04. 5 July 17, and I'm looking forward to towing my trailer to a campground near Cedar Breaks in Utah over Labor day weekend. From what all my diesel friends have told me, it will be a much easier pull than it was with my '96 Dodge gasser.

Can't wait !!

I am not sure as to where I am to post my question. Please give me some instructions if this is not the right spot.

This is my question:

I want to purchase a travel trailer with a dry hitch weight of 1000lbs. and gross vechile weight of 11,700 lbs.

Will my 03 2500 long bed 48RE 4. 10 pull this ok?

What gauges should I consider having installed if I plan to travel in the mountains out west?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

 I guess I haven't figured out how to post pics yet, tried to paste one but did not work, guess I will have to get trained. LOL

Posting pics

You'll have to add them as an attachment. You can hit the add attachments key and browse for the pic you want. Hopefully, with this new BB, we can post pics bigger than 32K, 100x100 pixels.

You'll like the diesel. My only experience growing up was a few 7. 3 IDI Fords- lethargic, fuel sucking, smoke spewing. Then I drove a 91 CTD Ram in late 99, and HAD to have one. The rest is hsitory... ...
