I am now at 7,200 miles with my new truck - and first diesel truck.
I have changed the oil twice now - both at roughly 3,000 miles.
I am getting the oil change required soon message on the EVIC. I think this is because I am coming up on 7,500 miles, not because the oil requires changing (I use the truck pretty much only on the highway - driving or towing my travel trailer). I have found in other places on the forum that if I turn the key to the on position, depress the accelerator pedal completely three times, and turn the key to the off position within ten seconds I will reset the EVIC message. Is this correct?
I see I am now coming up on a front axle lubrication. Is there something unique about this maintenance step - I assume it is simply greasing; so take the grease gun, search diligently for every grease zerk in sight, and grease away. Is there something more to this maintenance than this?
Thank you!
