Got your PM's and email Mike. Sorry, busy afternoon.

Yes, that bulletin looks like what we need. I just wonder if "low output" means low pressure, not volume? Surely, that's what they mean. Yes, we'll need all the parts listed in the bulletin, spacer, line, hardware, and gasket.

My '92 takes a Cummins 4983584 Diaphragm-style pump. According to the bulletin, I would need these parts to go to the "low output piston pump":
  • (1) 5269315 Transfer Pump (Piston style), still available, $91.06 from my dealer
  • (1) 5271291 Fuel Supply Tube, still available, $104.78 from my dealer
  • (2) 3939258 Gasket, available, $4.49/each
  • (1) 3924725 Banjo Bolt, available, $12.74
  • (2) 3963984 Sealing Washer, available, $3.49/each
  • (1) 3914284 Spacer, 5mm, still available, $10.00 from my dealer
Total is $234.54

Power Driven Diesel does not sell a high volume, low pressure pump.....they sell a low volume, low pressure pump. BigPappa a 26mm piston is not a high volume pump....a 30mm is. That's almost a 25% difference in volume. Just setting the facts straight. Also my HVLP pump is not a 2nd gen pump like Fastback67 mentioned. Again, just setting things straight.

Sorry Mark... Your right of course; I guess I should have said it's a 14psi HVLP Low Pressure Piston Lift Pump, that looks and fits like a 2nd Gen pump, compared to the OEM Diaphragm style pump. Just seems a bit long winded :D
Your webpage gives a full and accurate description for anyone who might be interested.
Best upgrade I've made to my truck thus far.... it woke everything right up.

No harm Fastback67. Just didn't want guys thinking the 2nd gen piston pump is the correct pump to mod and find out the hard way. Glad you like your HVLP 7 install kit.

Power Hungry Diesel offers a "True high volume low pressure piston lift pump" kit for $265.00

https://www.thehungrydiesel.com/product.sc?productId=15&categoryId=381

His image for the kit shows a Cummins 4988748. A web search shows that number for the 8.3's. I do not know if it has been modified or not. It had several recommendations on 1stGen.org.
I dont want to piss anyone off, but 265 for a china made lift pump with just a new 3 dollar spring is a rip off of huge proportions. I know these guys are in this to make money and hopefully help people. But there into these for forty bucks with spring or even less its ridicilous. I was able to buy a lift pump , go to my hardware store, pick out a spring myself, and wham 12 pounds all the time!

Ryan, your so far off base it isn't funny. The genuine Cummins pumps are made in China, has been for many years. Walk into your local Cummins & ask them to see any of the piston lift pumps & you will see. Then price out all the parts to make the kit. Your over $200 any way you cut it.
Granted you must have bought a low volume china pump and certainly not a genuine Cummins one, I can guarantee that.

Got a delphi 48.00 bucks, spring 3.28. cummins line kit 18.00 . block off 8.65 no matter what for my neds i have 12 ponds all the time. wot still 12 pounds. and i got a real set bran new of pod,s 240.00. im just very dave ramsey money cautious. Oh fuel pin and spring 50.00. I researched uel pins for two months wanted m & k but got very close. No disrespect intended. But, I am in retail own my own company, thev secret to havin g money is to keep having it, and have it work for you!

No disrespect taken but yep, vendors see this all the time. A "aftermarket" china made low volume delphi pump ( I don't care how deep your buying discount is, $48 is half the price of a genuine delphi pump ) isn't exactly apples to apples compared to a genuine high volume Cummins pump. Genuine Cummins parts cost $....even 1 gasket is $6....kit contains 2 and we certainly don't use a cheap hardware spring. That's like going down to the hardware store & buying heavier valve springs than your stock ones. Try that & let us know how that works out for you. lol You get what you pay for.

Bud its a work truck, and it is working great. I only have a fuel pin, spring, exhuast, air breather kit. I have purchased cummins parts and purchased the china make part, same casting, different box, we all know how it is now. Thats all. No biggie. The lift pumps should be around 130.00 max. I have been in this industry for 34 years. Alot of this stuff is made in the same place. But mayber not anymore. Has of right now 20,549 dead in china!

LOL. What I'd suggest for your situation is to sell your truck & buy a case of beer with the money.

Also - put down the wrenches & focus on your business.
