Hey are the motors out of the first gens the same as the second gen? Obviously the pump is different. But block, cam, pistons, head and all that are the same correct?

As far as I know they are the same except for a few things such as the head will flow a little more air, fuel system, intake manifold, and a few brackets.

did one of your trucks have a 53 block in it?

wont find any of those in a first gen truck...

supposedly, the '91s were different and had the piston out of the hole a little

you cant run the 028 inj washers on those...

other than that i bet you would not notice any difference if you threw your p-pump on one

moving the ring land up or down a couple mil doesnt change the compression ratio as much as some people think...

of course the looser the tolerance (piston to cyl wall) the more it matters

when building a pro stock piston i put the rings as high as possible but on a tight street motor i dont think it is worth it

for longevity i would rather have the ring further down cuz that effectively makes the top of the piston stronger and puts the ring that much further away from the heat

imo

The heads are shaped different. The newer ones with the p-pump are rounded out for the injector pump. The older heads aren't. Not a lot of difference tho.

There are alot of diferences between 1st gen engines and 2nd gens. Cam, pistons, inj, fuel pump, & turbo are even different between 94 and 97 for example ( 160 hp -215 ) Lift pump, fuel filter and heater, oil pan, front cover and gear housing, and the list goes on, if you want to get technical. Some of it is for emmisions ( CPL ) some for the different body style ( motor mounts ) some for the different trans ( trans adapter ). Shadrach
