I'm having a little trouble finding a tapped banjo bolt to install a fuel gauge sensor on my 91. 5. Geno's has one listed for the Second Gen. , but not the First Gen. I contacted them and got, "Sorry, but we do not carry that item for the 12-valve Dodge. I know of no source for a similar item. "

I did a little digging on the TDR and found the banjo bolt size for the First Gen. at the VE listed as 12 x 1. 5. I did not find a size for the banjo bolts at the filter. I also checked for the Second Gen. with VP44 and found it listed as 12 x 1. 5 for all banjo bolts. I looked at one from my 01. 5 when I did the banjo upgrade and it is 12mm. Can someone confirm or deny size of the banjo bolts at the filter on the First Gen. ? I am thinking the First Gen. and Second Gen. banjo bolts are the same at the filter. The truck is in NC and I am in FL, or I would check this out first hand.

So... . Geno's said they don't have the part... ... ... ... ..... :rolleyes:

You know..... that is just one more reason whay I need to start a FIRST GENERATION ONLY store. All others diesels are turned away.

stupid stupid stupid

Just get the part and DON'T ask them any questions. When THEY ask YOU what the application is (as they always do :eek: ) just say "it don't matter" or the popular response "nunya"

#@$%!

One example of many... ... . I desired to order a 3rd gen stage I air filter assy for my first gen custom intake. Then the guy at Geno's wanted to argue w/me. :-{}

To answer your next question, yes. You can also use the high flow regular style banjo (w/out the tap threads ) for the other bolt.

Cummins has then now for the VP-44 fuel system as they are common to failure due to low supply. They are now installing them (recall) on the fuel filter canister and inserting a pressure sensor for the ECM.

The Cummins part is 4918413

Don't forget to replace the seal(s) when installing the new banjo(s)

Does a stock VE really need the upgraded regular banjo bolts? If so, would I be better off replacing the lines from the lift pump through to the VE with -8AN braided stainless steel. I can probably do all that for around $170 verses $40 for the banjo bolts (bolts, gaskets, and shipping). Right now, the $40 sounds better.

why use 8an stainles staeel?. . use synflex line ,the same line used for cvommercial air and fuel on tractor trailers. . much much cheaper and easy to work with . . plus If you need it its almost every where. . fixable with a razor blade and a wrench. .

To be honset I have no idea what Synflex and 8AN yadda yadda is. Everyone has an opinion on what to use and the size. I know nothing about fuel line materials. IMHO, 5/8" heater hose would be good... ... ... .

To answer you question, yes, the larger holes are required to flow more fuel when the pump is modded to flow more fuel. The lift pump must also be upgradded. The IP will starve for fuel if you don't upgrade everything.

40. 00 for banjo bolts? They are only 7. 00 each I think, and the seals are 1. 00 each. That's 18. 00... ... ... . how many are you getting?

Genos has the banjo bolt. Get the one for the 24 valve, its the same as the first gen trucks.

Leave it to Matt to keep it simple! ;)

I used heater hose on my fuel line. I had to replace it every 2 weeks though? :confused:

:-laf :-laf

I would use braided stainless steel because it is difficult to rub a hole in and looks good. Some good Gates fuel line would probably work well or a hydraulic hose. I'm bad to over engineer.

As far as the banjo bolts go, I was figuring one at the VE, two at the filter and one at the lift pump. $4 for the plain banjo bolts, $7 for the tapped banjo bolt and 8 washers at $1. 25. I guessed $10 for shipping which comes to $39 if I added correctly.

-8AN is 1/2 inch with a flare fitting.

ahhhh..... no.

There are only two. One at the inlet of the cylinder head to feed the fuel to the filter and one at the outlet of the cylinder head to deilver the fuel to the IP.

The plaine Jane banjo is the inlet and the tap thread banjo is the outlet.

Well that makes it a little easier and a whole lot more sense. I guess I was confusing it with the Second Gen. Thanks for the clarification and the information.

Genos Garage = 1st gen idiots

I ordered the Banjos a couple years ago and got the same response. They fit perfectly.

Also ordered the fuel pressure senders even after they said "you don't need them on a first gen because it will just quit running when it runs out of fuel with no harm done to the fuel system". :confused::confused:

I am currently using the "Vulcan transmission temp. guage adapter" that taps into my 1/2" fuel line to monitor my fuel pressure. It's on page 58 in the latest Genos catalog. It uses 1/2 barbed ends and a 1/8 npt "T".

You Dog... ... ...

That's an idea. But, I'll bet you they ask on the On-Line forum what the application is. Then, you'll recieve an automated e-mail minutes later that states the order is invalid/red flagged as the ordered item is not compatable w/your model year truck.

:-laf :eek: :{

Hmm, so I'm not the only one having problems getting stuff from Geno's?? I ordered Larry B's starter contacts from them and twice called them asking about my order. Both times they said "We expect incoming shipment anyday of your parts". After a week, I called Larry B's and he sent them out the very next day... ... ... . I called Genos back to cancel my order, and advised them to keep my shirt too, because I didn't want it either. .

Greenleaf, when you starting your first gen only business? Have a pile of ground fuel pins, 3200 rpm gov springs, some Smokehouse intakes, some of Tim's air pipes, and some getrag parts, and you'll be in business! You could even sell shirts! I'd buy two. ;) You could hire Philip to be your in house electrical guru, and Bill to be your junkyard dog. I could be your mid west coast store keeper!

Tugboat only makes "Tie-Died" shirts.

You has forgotten 'bout the 1/2" door hinge pin/greasable.

Tim is full of hot air... ... ... ... ... LOL-ROF
