How often does this happen I wonder?

Took a load of sand home from the gravel pit for the kid's new sandbox. I asked for a yard, but ended up with a little more. We had 3240lbs in the bed of our "3/4 ton. " I looked up the specs for this pickup and it's only rated for 2400 lbs or so. Took it like a champ, power wasn't affected at all, and althoug I could feel the weight around the roundabouts, it never felt uneasy. I'll throw up a pic later on.

Yeah, it was pretty nice, if not downright comfortable.

It's amazing how well they ride with 3K lbs in the bed.

The limiting factor on any SRW, 2500 or 3500, is tires. Stock tires are only good to 6390 lbs on the rear axle, so around 3000-3500 lbs is all you can put in the bed.

had a big load of gravel in "Tiny" when she was new. rolled onto the scale empty @ about 7200lb. rolled back onto the scale at 12,600. rode about a foot low all the way home (less than 10 miles). No ill effects :)

Wait you mean the truck can't carry a full load of dirt/sand? Why'd they give us that nice big box then if we can't use all of it... ... Lol. .

Years back I helped a friend dig out his basement w loaded my 89 so the sand was over the cab it never flinched even asked for more. Now the Chevy we were also using ended up just a bit bent after two loads like my truck was taking... . I wish I had pics of the loads we moved...

I took apart my front steps (cement) and loaded it into my truck. I did notice that it was sagging. So I pumped up the air bags to 90psi and went to the plant where I was weighed before and after. I was surprised to see I was a tad over 3K. Power wise no problem but the rear suspension would not have done as well without the bags.

My 04. 5 weighs 12,500# with the GN trailer attatched (just the truck) the combined weight is about 25,000#, this is normal towing for me and I tow about 20,000 miles a year at that weight. Tough trucks. .

Years ago I used to do side work for a friend on LI. One of his trucks was a '61 International 130 series dump truck with the 266 V8 gas engine. One day he carried 7 tons of asphalt with it, the tires were half-flat with that much weight, but it did it and lived on long afterwards.

When I was just a little kid, my Dad hauled a load of wheat (300 bushel, about 8. 5 ton) on his '43 IHC K7 and fell through an old wooden culvert that the old county roads used and bent both frame rails right behind the cab. He had them straightened and installed hard wood blocks in the chanels and used it until he bought a new truck, a '44 IHC K7:-laf
