All right I need your help, October will be my first hook!! I need to know what to do. Remember Ive got a slush box... The shop that did my transmission said to bring boost up to around 6-8 psi take off, roll hard into throttle shift into second and hold to wood. He also said since I have 4:10's with 285 BFG's that i might go into third??? That seems awful high for no more power than Im making?? Sorry so many qestions just want to pull clean.

P. S. The Mac Man at my shop drives an 89 Chevy with a warmed over 454 (ie cam, edelbrock aluminum heads and digital fuel injection) He said and I quote " I WILL out pull your Cummins" I want to make sure this is just a dream of his and that I will introduce him to his nightmare :-laf :-laf

I get mine ready 4 Lo of course and power brake until the truck starts to overpower the brakes, let off the brakes and hold down the accelerator till I stop.

On my first hook with my stock transmission I was told NOT to shift out of 1st gear, for the sake of the transmission.

But now I stall it to 15 psi and let her fly all the way to third gear under full lock-up! ;)

HAHAHAHA in drive or 1st gear???

I Kick the tow/haul mode out so it won't go into overdrive and let it shift normally. That's with the stock auto (which is on borrowed time) but I think with your transmission it would be good.

I've had friends tell me to shift it when you're comfortable with the RPM's, but tell you the truth there's so much going on, or I'm so nervous every time, I wouldn't be thinking about shifting.

So are you saying the Tow-Haul light on the dash should be on or off?? I would think youd want it in Tow-Haul mode to take in its benefits. But im asking as I do not know. Are guys manually shifting or leaving in Drive??

Manually shifting, here is a video . Drive shifts too quick into higher gears, and yes lock out O/D. ;) In the video I did not build any boost, just matted it from the get go(just experimenting), I usually powerbrake it until the brakes dont hold the boost anymore.

BTW, for some reason i thought you had a stock transmission  -I see you have good stuff in it :D :D so disregard my previous statement about staying in first gear.
