I just got back from my first long trip (1,300 miles) in the new HO. What a ride! I can't believe a 3/4 ton can ride this nice. Makes my 2001 1/2 ton look like a pile of junk.
The leather seats are very comfortable and the adjustable, heated passenger seat made big points with my wife as did the separate temp controls. She had her seat turned on and the heater turned to hot, mine seat was off and I was blowing cold air. We listened to a couple of "books on CD" and the Infinity stereo worked great. I wear hearing aids but not usually while driving (talk about a quiet Cummins) and I could talk with my soft talking wife and understand the books on CD without the HA's. I had a hard time in the GMC. Of course, the gas burner in the GMC was quiet but the wind noise sure wasn't. My wife thinks the Dodge is quieter.
I was hoping the mileage would be a bit better. I filled four times: 16. 08, 18. 11, 16. 84 and 15. 37 mpg. The worst mileage was heading west across South Dakota on I 90 at 78 mph with a strong, 90 degree crosswind, not headwind. I suppose I was going uphill a bit, as well.
Boy, the power is great. I really got tired of the constant shifting of the auto on the 5. 3 GMC. I can't believe I own such a great truck!
