As TDR writers G.R Whale and Bruce Smith were writing the First Drive/First Review articles, the new 2025 Ram Heavy Duty trucks were in transit to North American dealerships. So, when our local CDJR (Troncalli in Cumming, Georgia) called, we jumped at the opportunity to take some photographs of the new truck.
Apologies for the shadow in the picture. We can’t choose the time of day for photographs.
What is the Price of Admission
To the point: Here is a picture of the “Moroney Sticker” showing the Ram 2500 Big Horn, Crew Cab, 4x4 and its accessories.
Yep, we know you think $78,670 is expensive.
So, What is New?
Extra, extra, read all about it…
Seriously, the two previous reports by G.R. Whale and Bruce Smith gave you the updates. Synopsis: Greg tells us we have across-the-board increases in performance, towing and driving experience. Bruce Smith gave you the story behind the new-for-2025 Cummins engine. This “First Look” report will give you some general service impressions as we went under the hood and inside the cabin.
Pop the Hood Latch
We were anxious to see the first truck at our local dealership. So much so that you’ll have to excuse the dust and pollen. Our enthusiasm to look preceded the opportunity for the dealership to clean. Got it. Here is the “slideshow” of the engine and its service points.
Driver’s side: They said the fuel filters were accessible?
Yes, the Cummins engine retains a good-ole-fashioned dipstick.
Driver’s side: There is a better picture of the filters.
Yes, they are not difficult to service.
A 28mm socket fits over both of the fuel filter caps.
Passenger side: The same 28mm socket will be used to remove the oil filter cap.
The Interior
Ah, what can I tell you about the interior that will be “new” news? My truck is a 2020 Tradesman trim with a good ‘ole fashioned 4” radio. The interior just isn’t that much different than the 2020 or, for that matter, the 2014 or the 2010 trucks that I’ve previously owned. It’s nice, comfortable and, shall we say, familiar.
You will note the use of the “Atlantis” safety controls/body control/interior control big screen and all of the features associated with this software architecture. Here are some pictures from inside the cabin.
Front Seating
Rear Seating
Back in 2010 these rear under-floor compartments
were really cool. Now-a-days: not so much.
Rear cargo area with exterior 115-volt AC outlet and LED bed lighting.
The factory-supplied bed liner is a really nice feature, too.
