Congrats on the bike Bighammer. I am sure you will enjoy it. Can't add anything additional to what everybody else has posted. The safety course is great and I also think everybody should have to take it.

Also wanted to say hello to a fellow Triumph Tiger rider Matt400. There aren't many of us out there, but boy do we know the secret that is the Tiger. I have an 03 that is sweet as sweet can be. Rode about everything else and nothing could compare to what I wanted. Made quite a few changes for the 07's. Looked at one the other day.

Ride safe everybody.

Way to go bighammer! tell her you shopped for the best deal, coulda been worse for sure picking up an 08 model.

Hey there Bloomy, have you been to TriumphRat.Net ? I have posted there a few times. Its starting to get cold here so I gotta get some warmer gloves, heated grips or some BMer hand guards.

I never even noticed that the handguards were gone? When I first bought the bike in 03 I was a little more active with them, but have not been on in a long while. Let me know how you like it. More hp, smaller fuel tank, slightly different riding position. The weather is fine down here still, but the afternoon rains need to take a break. I can't get a decent ride in without getting soaked through my armor! I will check out the rats again to see how things are.

I 3rd the safety course.

Also, I suggest that if you are going to be into "trips" that you look at the Honda Goldwing series. They go back all the way to 1975 or there abouts w/1000cc. Then 1200cc in the early '80s. From 1988 to 2000 they are 1500cc. I only paid $7k for mine. See it here.

Another guy that rides in shorts... ... . you'll change your wardrobe after you lay it down or burn your leg... ... ...

Edit: I didn't read the other post when I wrote this but the wisdom still stands and everyone needs to wear the proper gear.

I need to find a jacket. Not much in the way of motorcycle dealers up here. The shopping for helmets was slim pickens. At least the one I found was on sale. (the emphasis is shifting to snowmobiles up here)

I've looked online, but the choices are huge. I'd kind of like to try it on first too.

Bighammer... .

GO DO A TRACK DAY!!!!!

Either Gingerman in South Haven or Grattan look pretty close to you... funnest thing ever.

You will get hurt if you continue to ride. Don't tailgate. . not enough rubber-grabbing to stop quickly. Drive offensively. . never ride in the pack. Car drivers can't see you ( you are not a car ) and will run you over. Other than those drawbacks its wonderful to ride.
