Competition Prince Twin goes 13.19

Competition Am curious, what would my truck run if....

Well guys, last night, after fighting battles with many broken parts, I finally got a pass down the dragstrip.

I did one pass.

13. 157 @ 100. 84

1. 959 60'

I ran 2wd, slicks on the rear.

I have the truck setup for the lowest HP possible, running low timing, my plate slid full back, a small air filter, and a couple other things.

More in the works.

Merrick

I averaged 20. 8MPG on my last tank of fuel too.

Great Job Merrick!!!!!!!! It is scary how close you and my buddies trucks are running. Here are his particulars:

13. 19 @ 105. 47

1. 97 60' (has gone 1. 84 with single charger  )

4 wd launch, shift out of 4wd just before going to 4th gear.

He has Prince injectors, "0" plate set in the middle, timing somewhere north of 20 Degrees :D .

See the other thread for more comments.

Again, way to go Merrick :D :D

Jim

Pretty good for running 2WD Merrick... :)

Any traction loss with those slicks? Are they street legal slicks? What's your ballpark hp?

You gonna run 4x4 too? Inquiring minds want to know!

"1. 97 60' (has gone 1. 84 with single charger)"

Heh heh... Not bad for a rookie. :p At 105mph, it really comes on nice in the top end, eh?

IMHO you can shift out of 4wd all you want--it doesn't help--you have to let off the go pedal to make it disengage--and even then it might not at those speeds--chris

This morning I found a good 1/2" tear in one of my boots,, I was wondering why I was getting only 80PSI instead of my usual 95.

Rhonda I dyno'd only 509 ;)

I am guessing my truck weighs a little under 7,000.

I actually did run in 4wd,, but I didn't have a front driveshaft,, so no power was being applied, and it's anybodies guess how much was being robbed.

They are not street legal slicks. They are 31. 5x14x16. The same ones Maddog used in Baytown on Dec 7th. (He used mine)

I will be using 4wd, and bringing up the boost. I launched at 20PSI, and the truck wanted to pull,, I spun the rim in the pass. slick (about 1. 5"), but not the drivers side. I guess the reason is the track was stickier on one side?, and why the truck wanted to do a hard left at the light. ?

Shrimpy,

It is coincidental how close we are running to each other.

I'm running a #4 plate full back.

20* timing

J. R's Injectors

J. R's Turbo's

ATS Auto transmission.

I'm curious when he's shifting and what GSK he has. I only have enough cajones to shift at 3,800RPM now.

I think I will shift out of 4wd,, just so I can have more to do in 13 seconds than is nessacary. (real reason is, I'd probably forget at the end, and snap something on the corner )

Been there... :) Better screw 'em.

LOL, yeah all the excitement is in the first couple of seconds unless you're bracket racing, then you get a little at the end... Adding a L/U and shifting to 2WD before 2-3 shift has made it a little more complicated.

I've heard that shifting out of 4WD actually does help because although it actually doesn't disengage, it's no longer drawing power. I figure it can't hurt...

Merrick I take it the slicks were tubeless? I am seeing 108 in the traps but I have run out of rpm with the little (28-11. 5-16) DOT slicks. Thats what worries me slipping the tire and ripping the valve stem out.

Rhonda,, I have the screws,, just need to do it.

Thanks Matt. It should get better this coming weekend. Alhtough it's bracket racing this weekend, so I have a hard time fitting a pass in between the brackets.

Bill,

Yes, they are Tubeless, and are freakin' soft. They bite the track like nobodies business. They don't require a big burnout.

We are working on a 33x12 (or 14) x16 DOT tire for us, but I need a run of 50 tires to do anything.

Group buy anybody?

Merrick

Merrick, Will a 33-10. 5 Wide work on your application. They are actually much wider than the 10. 5 designation and are used in the outlaw 10. 5 shootouts.

I'm open to try just about anything.

My only requirements are that it is over 31" tall, atleast 10" wide, and it MUST fit a 16x10 (or taller) Rim.

OMy only requirements are that it is over 31" tall, at least 10" wide, and it MUST fit a 16x10 (or taller) Rim.

Or you can Stockton build you a set a 15" 8 lug wheels and run a 33/10. 5W or a Street ET for the odd ball rules in some classes.

Jim

They will if you mill off some length off of the cooling fins. ;)

Barely works. The cooling fins aren't totally necessary unless your towing and really getting those brakes hot for extended periods of time(like going down a steep grade with a trailer on).
