This is my first ever oil analysis and I run Royal Purple. The oil only has 5K miles on it. Just curious about input, dont really know what I am reading. thanks.

Wear metals and silicates low, virtually no water in fuel. No TBN or particulate count. I want to know how much additive is left and what size and count on particles. The 3-7 micron variety are causing the most wear. Looks good, but a sample at a normal change interval with TBN and particle count would tell much more. Anyone care to chime in?

This is direct from the Blackstone Labs FAQ page

Come on, you're holding out on me. I should use synthetic, right?

Buddy, you should use whatever you want. Synthetic oil won't guarantee a longer engine life any more than my eating organic food will guarantee I'll live until I'm 90. We here at Blackstone generally use regular petroleum-based oil because honestly, it works just as well for us.

Been using RP 15/40 and RP everywhere else for 175k miles, quit testing a while back after tests were good consistantly, change filter at 7500 and top off oil level, change oil/filter/fuel filter at 15k and keep drivin'

oil analysis

I only did the oil analysis b/c I was curious about maybe fuel in oil and wear metal particulates. I know I can go 10K or longer on oil, was only curious.

Particulate count is there. It is the soot %. That report doesn't make sense not having the TBN. OAI (oil analyzers inc) includes the TBN in their price. The OP got jipped.

For my 25,000 mile OCI the only oil I trust is Amsoil AME 15w-40. I can get it cheaper than the overhyped purple stuff. Don't get me wrong, the purple stuff is decent oil, but it does not hold up that well with longer OCI's on flat tappet engines.

Soot is going to build up even with a bypass filter unless you are running a centrifuge like big rigs. The particulate count and particle size at the bottom of the report is blank. Those are telling numbers since they are the bits that cause the wear.

I have four analysis reports over the past four years with a combined mileage of a little over 100,000 miles from my truck and none of my OAI reports have the particulate count either.
