Besides a Y2K I have a diesel compact tractor and check the compact tractor board (jplan) regularly. Posted recently was a comment about finding shavings in the first oil change. One of the responders was an engineer for the aerospace industry who said it was common in the auto and tractor industry for motor castings to not been washed!!! and therefore sand and casting shavings to be present. It was considered an "acceptable risk" for some engines and transmissions to fail as there was always the warranty to fix the damaged goods. WOW!! Looks like another good reason to make the first oil change quickly-like 100-500 miles. (http://www.jplan.com)

Cheers
