ANOTHER NV5600 oil question!

Juice Attitude For An 05 600, I Have ????

I hope someone will chime in on my question(s).

I have a 2500 with just a little over 1000 miles on it. I was thinking of changing all fluids(oil, transmission (6-speed), front and rear diffs. and possibly the transfer case. ) I thought that I had read somewhere here that it was a good idea to do that. I have done a lot of searches and reading but I can't find the info I am looking for

Is all this a good idea, or unneccessary? Should the truck "break in" a while longer before I change the fluids? Should I do the engine oil and let the other stuff go for a while?

Any responses, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is a great site!

Thanks,

Chris

I usually change my oil for the first time at 1/2 the interval on new vehicles. Did mine at 3700 miles. I decided to change the rear diff fluid last week (8500 miles). It looked pretty clean, but there was some metal dust in the pumpkin that I cleaned out. I didn't even touch the front since the rear looked good.

At 1000 miles, I don't think you should need to mess with the diffs/transmission/transfer case. Honestly, I don't think you need to worry about the oil just yet either.

I don't tow at all, just keep a ~800lbs in the bed all the time and 90% of my driving is highway/interstate.

I did my 1st oil change at around 3000 and the rest of the fluids at about 15K. Personally, I think changing the fluids at 1000 is a waste of money and does not accomplish anything. Better to get a few more miles on it so that when you do dump them, you have gotten more of the early wear metals out of the system. Other members may (and will) have different opinions.
