First Order Problem

I knew this was too easy...



Dealer called me this morning and said that the only wheels available in the single rear wheel group are the chrome-clad steel. Anyone have a 3500 SRW with aluminums? He said he was on the phone with the area rep for over an hour before calling me with the bad news. I really want the aluminum. TIA

The aluminum ones come on the Laramie package. Thats what I ordered on my 3500 SRW 4x4.

I thought that standard was on the Laramie! I wonder if the area rep thought it was an SLT?

Dodge gives a $100 credit if you get the steel wheels with the Laramie Pkg.

When I ordered my 03' there was a choice between the chrome and aluminum... I really didn't care for either, but liked the aluminum a little better... . actually the wheel looks pretty good, but that darn big plastic center cap painted to look like alum. looks like donkey dung.

i think the alums on the 3500srw are a dealer thing (the 3500srw comes w/chrome-steel)

mine has them and i wasn't going to get it without them.

all of dave smith's trucks in kellog idaho had the alums on them (3500srw)

I actually like the Aluminum. And they'll never rust.

I like the aluminum, but I have to keep washing them or they don't look good. The crummy wheels I had on the old struggle buggy looked so lousy, I never cared if they were clean or not.

Not. The 3500 Laramie SRW came with aluminum. If your order requested a delete for the chrome, then a $100 sticker credit is listed.



Some one told me the steel wheels weigh in at 42 lbs. Anybody else have a bare aluminum one they can weigh????

I just checked restrictions and the aluminum wheels is on restriction right now. You can change to the chrome wheel if you ordered a Laramie Pkg. You can change or you wait for restriction to come off, but your order will sit it BG status and will not be scheduled to be built. Your choice Greg Thiessen

you might watch the recall that was just issued for the Aluminum wheel, they have been seeing cracks around the stud mountings, center of the wheel. it apeared in the current issue of Trailer Life.

I am not at all surprised if they are seeing cracks at the lug nut holes in the Aluminum, based on the torque spec for the nuts and the shape of the holes.
