ok, i'll start from the begining,i had on '03 ctd 4x4 short bed 48re. i had all the toys, guages,va3. 1, it was a great truck. i bought a new 5th wheel the pin weight at 2200 lbs. gross 22500 that is the truck and the camper, so in july my wife bought a white 05 ctd 4x4 drw g56 loaded. love the truck, like the 6speed, have always had an automatic, but will get use to the 6speed. the problem i am having which i didn't have with the 03,i am having alot of sway, the truck and camper are level, nothing has changed from when i pulled with the 03. i feel like the front end is floating, we were on I-75 today. we stopped at the Ga/Tn welcome center, did a walk around, starting pushing on the front fender back and forth. it had a tremendous amount of movement. i feel like it is tire flex, the truck came with general tires. what do you guys think?

OEM General tires are mediocre at best. I used several sets on a previous '94 Ford F250HD. They were good for 45,000 easy highway miles and each set, without exception, developed cord separations in the carcass and began to pull right or left before they were completely worn out.

The current set of Michelin X Radial LT tires on my Dodge have almost 90,000 miles on them and will easily make 100,000 before I have to replace them.

You might get some improvement if you inflate the Generals to maximum inflation pressure molded on the sidewall.

You don't say where you are but I'm in S. FLA and I have the set of Michelin X 265/70R17's that came with my truck. They have 2800 miles on them and are practically new. I took them off because I went oversized and put on 315's (very squishy and soft -- no good for towing).

The Michelin's are Load Range E and are tough as nails because they ride like bricks. If your symptoms are related to the tires, these might help you out. PM me if you're interested.

not a bad tire, but with me ANY tire is a low life deal. . i got 23k out of mine... . :D

wet traction unloaded isnt great... but ya get used to it. i now have 315's. . same load rating but a 8 ply vice 10 ply. i have yet to tow with them... i know they will be squishy, but i doubt it will be horrible. my goal will be 19. 5's when i do a dually conversion.

I have an '04 dually 6 speed. I had lots of problems with the Goodyears that came with mine (all six had MAJOR cracking on the sidewalls. I got a set of AmeriTrac TR's installed on my truck a few months ago. We tow a 36' 5ver (she grosses a hair under 14k) and don't have any problems with sway. We run at 60 psi all around when loaded.

What are you running at?

My truck came with BFG's and I have no complaints about them. I have not pulled my 5'r > 50 mph since I have been following the breakin proceedures but no complaints about them so far. My 02' had the Michelin's and when I replace the BFG's I plan on getting Michelins. They were the nicest tire I have owned.

Had a similar experience but with 4x2 trucks, went from an 03 short bed to a 05 dually. The 05 has General tires and I pull a fifth wheel that weighs about 12,000 loaded. The dually seems to be more more stable and seems to react less to crosswinds and 18 wheelers that pass quickly. When towing, I much prefer the dually to the SRA and am glad I switched from SRA to DRA (at least when towing). I have no problems with sway.
