Greetings from Texas. I've been reading the forum for a few weeks and thought I'd join in. It appears you could use some additional First Generation participation. First I'd like to say that this is the only forum I've seen that actually stays on the subject of Dodge trucks and you the participants are to be congradulated for that. Well, I'll get offmy soap box for good and ask a question if I could. My problem is an old one and I'm sure that most of you are familier with,SAGGING DOORS, Between my son and I and many of my friends over the years I know it happens to every Dodge sooner or later. What's the easiest way to fix them and is there any way to prevent it from happening again. I am aware that it is the lower hinge wearing the center out where the pin goes through it. Any one got a good fix. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you all.

preleeguy,

Welcome aboard fellow Texan!! As we say around here--"Howdy neighbor"!!

I had a 92 D350 and put almost 100,000 miles on it before trading for my 97. I never did have any problems with the doors sagging. I would presume you could repace the hinges.

I did have the problem with a '78 Chevie Suburban I put 238,000 miles on. The driver door sagged and I replaced the hinges on the driver and passenger doors. I had a similar problem on my wife's '86 Bronco 4x4 (178,000+ miles)on the driver door. I replaced the hinges on it too. The Dodge isn't the only one with sagging doors!!!

preleeguy,
I am forwarding an e-mai I received last night about your sagging door. It seems Ron has had the problem and has a fix for you.

Hi Bill,
I just thought I would drop a line and maybe you could inform the guy with the sagging doors that the only way to fix it is to replace the bottom hinge only. That will straighten the door right up. Do not try to bend the door as some do. The hinge will cost 41. 00 and it will be factory correct.
Ron

Thanks, Ron. This certainly sounds like an easy solution to your problem.

Bill

Thanks Bill,
Yea that is always an option. Ihave toyed with the thought that i could drill out the worn hole and drop in a brass bushing, but if a hinge is so cheep, it's probably not worth the effort. I am surprised that others have not had the same problem. Thanks again for the reply. I look forward to talking more later.

Welcome aboard!!!
I had the doors fixed on a Dodge van where there was a bushing kit from Dodge that you could install. But if the lower hinge is only $41 whats the use!!. My driver door is a little loose, I just haven't got the gumption to replace the hinge or install a bushing kit. You could check out the price on a bushing kit just for giggles.

I have a 91 Dodge 4x4 and the drivers side door is sagging. After conversing will Ron H. , I am going to replace the bottom door hinge and strike plate. The door hinge was $49 and the strike plate was $7 from the local Dodge dealer. According to Ron, it is pretty straight forward. I imagine it is a 2 person job so as not to strain the top hinge. I'll let you know how it went as tomorrow is D-day (door day) for me.
