We drove down to friends on Whidbey Island to see a new fishing boat they bought and have dinner. So we drove home the hour it takes on two lane rural roads after dark. On low beam the highlights have a very horizontal cutoff. This is fine on flat level sections on road, however when you get into rolling ups and down in the highway the cutoff of head lights sometimes comes way in much closer to the front of the truck.

On a positive note the high beams really light up the road ahead.

I like them as well. I put in HID bulbs all six lights on the front and they are even more awesome and they work good with the projector light for the reason that the horizontal line helps keep them from being to bright for the oncoming traffic. I don't get too many flashes with these. And yes on high beam they are even better, so much better that when I turn on the 24" LED light bar it doesn't actually help at all with the lighting of the road in front, it just lights up the trees and ditches better. Also wired in a relay to the fog lights so that they stay on with the high beams.

I drove in the dark first time last night with my new Ram. I was actually impressed with the stock headlights. Mine has the auto-dim feature that equally was nice. No more forgetting to dim my brights to oncoming traffic.

I may opt for a bulb with brighter brights as I like to see everything at night, but not a necessity at this point.

So does your Canadian Laramie have the Bi-Functional Halogen Projector Headlamps? My bright light up the area in front of you like a 747 landing. It is the distinct light cutoff of the low beams that I was addressing. Heading down into a dip or as you approach a quick rise in the road that light cutoff area becomes very noticeable and a little concerning. We had seen deer in to locations when we first headed out.

I'm not sure. On dim, they have the line cut off across the top but light the ditches very well right back to the truck. I do know what you mean on the dips though. It's short.
My Ford F-150 had them but rounded out on the sides and poorly lit the ditches. I always worried I wouldn't see a deer coming from the side.

Yes, mine have the Bi-functional halogen projector lights. Yea, the horizontal line is a bit low at times for the vision distance/speed ratio of my driving speed and I can see how that would be worse if you are on a road with little short rolls where you are constantly up and down. I have aimed mine up a little bit to raise the horizontal line down the road a little further. That would help some in this case.

Next time I will turn the fog lights on and see if they help and all. Really not an issue on flat roads. This particular road has lots of ups and downs and corners to boot. SNOKING

I stopped into my dealer today. I too have the projector headlights. I did learn that I could up the wattage a bit with a whiter (brighter) brights for about $125. We'll see.

I'm curious what higher wattage bulb you are referencing...details?

I didn't write down the one the Parts guy showed me. I thought I'd remember....Duh! I know they were a PIAA 120 Watt Bright White bulb and he said they would fit my 2015 Ram 3500 truck. He also said that if I went with too bright a light, there would be a danger of melting the fixture.
I'll stop by the dealer and get the recommended bulb number and post it.

Agree my 2016 has way better lights than my 2011 did. I pretty much run with the fogs all time. The lighting is pretty good. I'll switch to PIAA light bulbs in a few months. They really helped my 2011.

Also will do a 30'' Rigid Light Bar for the late night cross country traveling we always seem to do. Looking at the mounts right now.

I personally think they suck and they're the biggest (and really only) disappointment I have with my truck. I guess I'm spoiled with my "loaded" '14 Durango Citadel. I expected my "loaded" Ram, which had an MSRP of $73,800 to have better lights than my Durango. I was wrong. My Durango's headlights automatically adjust when the vehicle is started, and even while driving. If you brake hard you can see them readjust to level, and they're bright. By comparison, my Ram's lights look more like my 2nd gen than a modern vehicle. Even my close to 1/3 the price '08 Prius (with HID's) has FAR superior lights to my Ram (and strangely a better backup camera picture than my Durango or Ram).

Snoking, are our headlight bulbs hi/lo or separate bulbs for each? Do you know what the OEM bulb ipart number s?

The round gray things are on in low beam, and inboard of them is what I assume it the high beam bulb. With have to check it out later. Highs will not come on sitting in the garage without the motor running. Off to deliver the boat to Seattle with the new owner. SNOKING

I appears the low beams are always on, and the high beams are inboard of the low beams. I just tried the fog lights with low beam and they help a lot with that cut off line, filling some light in above the cut off line. SNOKING

First time I drove on a backroad at night, it was scary how low the low beams were. I was far outdriving them at 25 mph on a hilly road. I had the same problem with my 2003 so it isn't just the new ones or the projectors (though the hard cutoff on the projectors makes them worse). They adjust them way too low. I cranked mine up. I think it was about a full turn up. They still point downward but not nearly so far and they are much less scary. I don't get high beamed so I guess they are okay when empty and when towing my popup. Considering these trucks don't squat much with a load, they should also be fine when I'm more loaded down.
