Just got some pics from the folks building the hauler bed for my new 4500 QC 4x4. Looks like another 3 weeks or so an i'll head out to Valparaiso, IN and drive it home. Oo. Oo. Oo.

What you're looking at are the left and right bed sides and the headache rack.

Still need to decide which running boards to put on and some good quality stainless steel wheel simulators. Then i can start saving up for the winch.

That is just about the EXACT way I would build a truck if I could have any truck and bed. Is that stainless? Looks like the economy isn't being hard on all of us. :D

I know what your going through, waiting for your bed to be finished. In 07, I had to wait for my 3500 C&C to be delivered, then I had to wait for the B&W Elite series bed, B&W Custom Truck Beds, Inc. , and then a 2000 mile round trip to have it installed. I can see by the pictures showing different phases that you must be close to the shop building your bed. What are the options on the C&C?, mine is a fully loaded SLT with Nav, sat, & U-connect. That is a fine looking bed and probably one of a kind, the depth of the boxes to the bed floor seems high, will you be able to hook up a 5th wheel hitch? Here is a picture of my rig in the tow/haul mode.

Most likely it won't work with a a 5th wheel. I had them build the sides at 20" high which is correct for a slide-in truck camper.

Waiting? Yep. I signed the papers in October for the truck and never even test drove it. Just made the 3rd payment on it. :{

I gotta tell you, Tom Martin is a perfectionist through and through. I just got off the phone with him and he's putting the bed back in the fabrication shop. Seems the gap between the front of the bed and the cab of the truck is about 1. 5" bigger than normal so he's having them weld an additional spacer/filler onto the front of the bed to help fill the gap. I was OK with it as is (partly because i want the truck back NOW) and i didn't think it looked bad, but he wasn't happy with it. So they'll add the filler, grind the seams flat and repaint the whole bed. Once our new camper arrives he'll make another headache rack to fill the space between the camper and the cab.

RVTRKN, that's one sharp looking rig you got there! All that side storage comes in handy i'm sure.

Actually, they're in Indiana and i'm in Maryland. The shop guys, at my request, shot those pics for me. Wish they were closer 'cause i'd have been there a couple times a week just to say hi. ;)

Here's a link to some more pics... .

Bhale, thanks for the compliment. I will get some more pictures, as soon as I get that 5ver in the picture to the Colorado river. (Parker AZ/Earp CA) As I posted, that is in the tow haul/mode. If you hadn't noticed, the name of my company is on the door of the truck, and when I get back, I have to reinstall the ladder rack with the ladders, so it will look like a real HVAC service truck. ;)

BTW, I have no payments :D

LBARTLETT The bumper was made for me by Reunel

Forrest I wish the bed was even close $12k :{

Brian :)

oh, I don't doubt that, that's just what I was quoted for a service body for a 3rd gen SWB SRW :( the steel version was $9k :(

it's caused me to look into just having the long bed conversion done so that I can use a regularly available bed and still be cheaper!

I did a lot of searching and phoning and the prices can get pretty steep, especially when you ask for customized options. I decided that appearance was a pretty high priority since this will be our retirement truck and it'll get lots of miles on it. I'm working 50+hrs each week to pay it off but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

Brian :)
