Took my 01 yesterday to dealer for fan in cab making noise, he showed me how to take it out and clean it. Anyway, the guy that sold my truck to me was there so i asked him if i could take a dullie for test drive. It was a 4#4 3500 dully. The first thing the thing was so quite was unbelivable. The other thing i notice how well it rode, it rode like a 1/2 ton pickup. I had to look back and make sure it had dulle wheels. The other thing how well it handled. It was like a sports car stering, just move the wheel and it pointed were it went. Very nice truck. The only thing that displeased me was the performed like a stock truck. I was looking for out of the seats pickup. Did`ent have it. It sure could use a box. My 01 with the chip would eat it alive. It was a automatic so maybe the 6 speed would make a diffrents. But was a nice ride. :D

I road tested a 04. 5 last thursday, get this it was auto, I have never been a slush box kinda guy but I didn't totally hate it either. I like the ride and the power wasn't bad. The steering is very tight, so tight that it was hard to not correct the steering even thou it didn't need it. The lack of noise was very strange I am thinking that is a negative thing, I am still not sold on the looks yet. I had them spec out and price a new 3/4 I will have to win the lottery to aford another truck any time soon.

Craig,

I think you're spending to much time talking with Matt. :D He started out just taking one for a test drive and pricing one out, and look how obsessed he's become.

I've been going thru the same thing. I turned the fuel down on my 97 and have been babying it because the clutch won't hold. A SB clutch will be a lot cheaper than a new truck. In the meantime, maybe some of the rumors will come true - like a 90" wide dually cab/chassis again and hopefully in a real Quad cab. I also (semi)retired this year and moved to Az. The income really dropped off! I need a part-time job so I can buy the big toys again. Craig

I had nothing to do with Craig driving that truck... other than maybe sparking his curiousity. :-laf

Obsessed? You betcha! I don't have much else to do out here besides research stuff. :) The local dealer thinks I'm insane... they're probably right... . I'm dangerously aware of their game and their product.

I've still yet to find a 3rd Gen outfitted just the way I want... . and I am not having much luck finding a 1998 QC, SB 12-valve with a 5-speed either... .
