FINALLY !!

It may not be a gem, it may not have all the trick add-ons, but I've finally got my first CTD !!!

Since, 1989, I've talked about (5) of my car buddies into buying Cummins trucks to tow with, but never had one myself.

They all make fun of me, 'cause I tow with an '84 Ford F350 dually, 460/C6. The only reason I've never gotten rid of it, is because it is a low-mile truck, and I only use it in the summer to tow with, so it stays *mint*.

BUT, I just had the opportunity to *add* a truck to the rest of my fleet of *Wayward Dodge (gas) Trucks*. '88 360 chassis-cab cube truck, and '86 W250 360 plow truck. A friend-ofa-friend's wife told him that he HAD to get rid of that *old* truck in the driveway once he replaced it with a new '02 CTD. Soooooo, for a mere $1300, I am now the proud papa of a '92 D250, 5-spd with a bazillion miles on it, but untouched ... ... :) The paint ain't pretty, but it is solid, and the engine still runs like a champ !!

But HOW could I just leave it bone stock ?? That's what I asked myself ... ... . So already, I've put in the 250HP Delphi marine injectors, K&N, and worked the pump !! MAN - now I know why y'all mess with these things - it is like INSTANT gratification when you pour the coals to these motors !! My neighbors think I'm a nutcase (well - more than normal ... . ). After each mod or adjustment, I take it out in the road and do some *spirited* full throttle blasts !!:D

Soon to be coming is the 14 cm2 housing to replace the 21 cm2 on the H1C.

I keep calling my buddy with his '02 2500 (stock) 4x ext. cab, auto, and ask him if he's ready to run 'em yet. Of course, his comeback is - wait till it's outta warranty, and I work the '02 !! Yea - yea - - but, I wanna run 'em NOW !!! :)

Welcome to TDR

and do some *spirited* full throttle blasts

This is called a test and tune session. :D

Nice price on your new addition to the herd. This site will get you addicted to power. Don't be surprised if you want to switch the whole herd to CTD's pretty soon. :D

Welcome!

A farmer I know got a call from a buddy at a dealership in Dayton OH, asking could he come down and save a 92 from the auction. He arrived just in time as they were loading up and bought it for $2500. At less than 100K. Some guys have all the luck

Thanks for the welcome !!

Yea - I figured for the price, I couldn't go wrong. It may have been used to haul a skid-steer all its' life (so-far . . ), but the engine was unmolested.

Question: I'm *betting* that the valves have never been lashed. Would I hear an audible *clatter* similar to a solid cammed gas motor if they weren't close ?? I should probably just take the time, and lash them anyway, 'eh ??

HoofinSoot welcome aboard. just a little word of caution you may want to put some gauges into the old girl before you do to much to her. a pyro and maybe a boost gauge to start with it could save a melt down in your future. bill

Welcome and it looks like you got a super deal. I also agree with BCaldwell about installing gauges. Turning up the wick builds heat. How much is the question.
